Whether or not the donors are willing to pony up the same NIL money next year is also a probably a huge factor.  Very seriously doubt people are willing to pony up this kind of money again.

The “compromise” by Dolson to let this go down this way saved us some good cash on the buyout. Lot of litigation today. Make no mistake about it, this was not Woody’s decision to retire.

Yea, didn't buy us much fun in the Bahamas.  TBD on the rest of the year, but not looking great.

If we do worse this year maybe the donors will give him 10,000,000 NIL to help with next year…….

I am just heart sick to see him in Michigan colors.  I would love to think we can lure him away.  But I am not sold on that idea. Why would he want to leave a program like Michigan to come to this mess in Bloomington?  The older I get the more I cheer for coaches instead of teams. I will be pulling for him at Michigan (except when they play IU of course).  

I read up a little on McCollum.  Seems like a nice fall back option if we cannot lure Stevens or May to Bloomington.

It wouldn't be a mess for long if May took control with our resources.

Michigan is a tougher school to recruit to. His family is here. We can probably pay more. Dolson was a manager, so was Dusty, there’s a connection

For years, a large group of fans, warned that apathy was creeping into the program. Those warnings were often met with laughs or dismissed by Fans who blindly supported every decision the program has made, no matter the results. 


Now it seems those warnings are becoming reality. The hiring of Curt Cignetti and his immediate success on the football field has given fans something else to focus on. Something more functional, exciting, and rewarding than the dysfunction in the basketball program. 
 

The usual excuses for the basketball program no longer hold weight. The curtain has fallen and the truth is hard to ignore. To me this feels like karmic justice. Cignetti had to fight for fan support, practically begging people to show up and back the team. What did it take? Winning! Immediately. At Indiana. In football. That’s historically unheard of. 
 

Basketball never had to fight for that support. Fans have always bought into the manufactured hype, paid their money, and showed up. No matter what. But Mike Woodson hasn’t done anything to earn that blind loyalty. He hasn’t done enough to “put ***** in the seats”, and honestly, I’m fine with that. He finds himself in this situation where fans aren’t showing up because it’s deserved.

This philosophy should hold true for the basketball program too. Fans deserve a program worth their time, money, and passion. Maybe it means I’m not a “true fan” but I’m hoping that the fans are actually holding those in charge accountable to finally deliver a winner.

Went to a high school game tonight. One team played 4 out and the other 5 out. It was sloppy and lazy and fundamentals were severely lacking, but the general movement, decisiveness, and pace of both squads marked a real contrast with Woodson's "system." 

Really disappointing to see the game evolve at the high school level but not at IU.
