I did say that. I think he has a chance, he's down the list but saying no chance is dumb on my part. He would have to be vetted and OK'd by Whitten but there is a way to get there. Hopefully, it doesn't come to that but I'm not saying there is no chance.

I really don't see IU going down that road, which I get. If his issues were solidly behind and he looks like a changed person I could see giving him a chance, considering the nature of his issues I'm skeptical they're behind him.

I agree. Great coach and would do well here, but just don’t see it.   Especially if Louisville and UK passed on him.

I still wonder if Beard used a PR firm and addressed/admitted his mistakes, how he’s actively working daily to be a better person, etc, if that would somehow change the perception of him?

I agree on the PR stuff.  Always thought Alford (no I am not advocating for him) should have done the same.  We love a to give 2nd chances when the person seems to understand their failure and seems to be working to improve.

It is coming across that you feel too strongly about this issue. It's giving off some weird vibes

It's an internet forum.. absolutely nothing more.

Weird vibes... couldn't careless

Serious question for the holier than thou crowd. If beard is hired will you quit watching and supporting IU out of principle? I would think morally you would have too if what you say holds any water.

Outside having a gun pointed at your face, I'm not sure any action warrants beating the living piss out of your girlfriend.

Good Lord.

That's absolutely not what happened lol

Knight had anger issues. He wasn’t an alcoholic women beater. In my experience, yes the stress of the job probably exacerbated Knights issues, but he had enough runway to make it 25yrs before he did something leading up to his dismissal.

Not only is alcoholic woman beater a bigger issue it is probably more likely to be triggered by elevated stressors…which again we have proof of with Beard. He last 1.5 yrs at his dream job before he flipped out. He’s a backwoods small timer coach. He can coach his balls off, but not in prime time.

Even Kentucky knew better than to put him back in that position.
I assume you will quit watching if beard is hired?

How many of you holy guys who have never made one mistake supported knight? Didn't he stuff cops in trash cans and throw plants at people to just name a few things. I have to assume you were calling for him to be fired daily?

Was the potted plant Knight?  I thought that was Dinardo or Crean?  I think if you're an IU secretary it might be a good idea to not bring plants into the office.

Yes. I'd sit it out for a year or two until he likely implodes here, sullies the reputation of the program, and is fired for cause.

Yeah, once you get to the point where your debating whether putting your hands on a student vs a woman is ok, the moral high ground argument is lost. Not to mention the awful quote about rape. Knight was not a good guy who was a great coach. And that's ok. But for many IU fans, there is such a disconnect between how we view Knight and how we view everyone else. People here would not have hired Bob Knight if they had the chance.

Knight was ultimately fired for that. Just like Beard.

And after all of that nobody would hire Knight…except for programs like Texas Tech.

You make the perfect argument against Beard, quite frankly. If Knight couldn’t get rehired at a major program why should the much less successful Beard?

I'm out on the mid-season firing, though warranted. From a PR perspective & out of respect for Woodson, he needs to be forced to announce retirement before Sunday. As awful as he's been he's still a Hoosier great who does not deserve what's coming for him Sunday. The only way to avoid it or tamper the crowd is through announced retirement. Do the right thing IU

He was a Hoosier great (as a player), but he screwed that up to the tune of about $20M over 4 years plus buyout by thinking he could coach without putting in the work. No recruiting. No player development. No fundamentals. No coaching prowess. Hubris. Ego. Entitlement. Fracturing the fan base with the "true fan" crap. He needs to face the music.

His legacy is what he's made it in the past 4 years... I'd guess that half of the fanbase (or more) has no clue about his playing days.

So, Michael Dean Woodson, come on down and face the music.

If your girlfriend punched you during an argument would you beat the piss out of her in retaliation?

Guessing you're single? And not by choice?

God bless. You just can't have a convo without being personal can you? Lol

Embarrassing.

I would have about as much interest as I do now with Woody or Archie or the end of Davis. Just be watching a walking disaster from afar waiting for the inevitable.

I assume you remember then that many did not want him fired after that happened, because he won a lot. Knight was old when Texas Tech hired him, that's why he never went anywhere else.
