Go_Hoosiers Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Apologies if this has already been mentioned - but did anyone else notice the a** chewing Woody gave Reneau on his 5th foul against Wisconsin? Reneau deserved it - but I thought it was notable because I have never seen Woody lay in to someone like that. Makes me think Woody is well aware of how tenuous his situation is. kottke 1

That is fair. Both IU and Auburn have games, but I don’t feel that should change Dolson’s perspective and the money. Decision should be made it seems “Hey Woody isn’t our guy next year” so go swing for the fences with Pearl and if something snags then pivot to Dusty because I promise that is as long as the list needs to be because Dusty isn’t saying no to IU. Just seems the decision one way or the other hasn’t been made and it should be. Either Woody is in next year or he is out, I don’t see what the last few weeks will tell us to make the decision?

That whole situation is messed up. Apparently Reneau was reluctant to foul because he had 4 and knew it, woody laid into him after the fact. Pretty soon he will be reading from note cards when interviewed and only answering questions from certain reporters but not everyone. Actually, I think if you watch closely, Woody's lips aren't in sync with the words and I think it's QB's hand under Woody's coat practicing his ventriloquism. I've seen several times over the years if an employee is placed on a PIP, then their fate is doomed and that it's merely a documentation tool to CYA. Just spit-balling that maybe Dolson is doing the same thing. Covering bases. Unfortunately I think if there will be a PIP for Woody, it will be next season. I had the very not fun at all task of firing somebody recently. We discussed a PIP several times leading up to it. Decided to skip that b/c the pattern of performance and bad habits had never changed no matter what conversations were had in the past and a PIP is intended to actually improve performance. None of us were confident that would happen. Now, I did have a meeting with this person a couple weeks in advance to lay it out for him, which was my attempt to nudge him toward getting the resume updated. My hope, even if it was a regularly scheduled meeting, is that this is what Scotty is doing. theriverpilot and Chris007 2

He's a tougher sell to trustees, Whitten, and others this year. But he's my first choice. So we'll see. Home Jersey and hoosierfan6157 2

8bucks Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 55 minutes ago, BleedCubbieBlue said: You are correct. Buyouts essentially act as a way to guarantee a coach time and also act as a pre-negotiated severance package. I think that it is interesting that Bruce Pearl actually has two buyout clauses in his contract. One is a coach's buyout that acts like an opt out and the other is a university buyout that acts like a guarantee of time and a severance package. The coach's buyout is much lower than the university buyout, which is why there was initially confusion on the buyout total for BP. Why would you negotiate a lower buyout for your opt out if you intended for your contract to act as a lifetime contract? Good coaches have all the power so for BP to have a lower buyout if he chose to leave vs if the schoold decided he should leave recognizes this. As to why he would want a lower buyout if he were to leave based on the idea that he intended for this to be a lifetime contract and or his last gig, well, things change. If a new president came in or a new AD and they did not share the same vision he may decide it is better to move on. If rumors are true, he seems to want to change apparel sponsorship, get a new basketball only facility and possibly get a guarantee his son will be his successor then maybe these are things he did not initially consider but feels is needed for him to continue to compete at Auburn (not so much his son as successor). Regarding the son as successor, I wonder if that would be the draw to keep him at Auburn vs leaving for IU. I doubt we will guarantee that but they might and I could see it being the tiebreaker.

I’m 60 and I used to love running but I’ve got bone on bone hip and I need a replacement. Until I get that done, I do the bike, stationary bike (Peleton classes) hike, treadmill and elliptical about 6 days a week. Hip hurts sometimes but I can deal with pain. Sardinefarts1991 1
