First time post.

I've followed most of this thread but not all of it. I think I'm officially over the Woodson era. Loved him as a kid growing up and hate seeing him struggle today, but he's simply not getting the job done. I think most of us knew this was a gamble from the start but at some point you just have to cut your losses.

As far as his replacement goes...I'm torn. As much as I'd like to see IU bring in a proven winner like Pearl or Beard, I've already told myself that the administration wouldn't touch some of these guys with their current baggage. May, Micah Shrewsberry, and Schertz are all probably realistic candidates and ones that could potentially do really well here but are far from a sure thing. Just wish we could rip the cord now before things get worse (if that's even possible).

It didn’t sour the administration who went right back to the well and tried to hire Brad Stevens. Were you happy when he was rumored to have the job?

Davis = high level assistant

 Sampson = P5 move over

 Tom Crean = NonP5 but major bball conf move over

 Archie = mid major

Woody = NBA guy and alum

IU has literally tried every angle and still screwed it up every time. The only winning formula is getting the best candidate possible and giving them the resources to succeed.

Honestly at this point I feel like the NY Jets are better at drafting quarterbacks than IU is at hiring basketball coaches.

Indiana needs to lose out for something to happen. Unless Woodson clearly doesn't want to do it anymore. But you're talking about a stubborn old fart, he's going to finish this out until he can't.

He’ll keep trying to milk the cash cow til she runs dry.

Be honest. If you guys had a time machine to go back to your younger self and change your fandom, would you?  Just knowing what I know about the type of administration we have and have had I'm 50/50.  I do love the campus though and friends I made but the sports experience oooof.

Hell no, loved seeing 3 national championships coached by one of the greatest coaches of all time

It will be interesting to see if a Twitter mob attacks OSU's administration for being a bunch of meanies and firing their coach. We all know social media virtue signalers live rent free in our administrations' heads.

*checks notes*

Holtmann was not a tourney 4 seed last year, and had seven years at OSU before they were mean to him.

Holtmann made the NCAA tourney 8 (7 if you take away COVID, but they would have made it) times in a row before last year. Including 3 at Butler. He was at OSU 6 years before this year.

True, but that's what 5-15 in conference last year and 4-10 this year will get you. Also, while he made the tourney until last year, he hasn't eclipsed 21 total wins since his first year at OSU. I also suspect that the decision-makers got a sense that the team was not buying in to him anymore.

More importantly...Welcome to the board!!

I bet there wouldn't be quite as much frustration if Woodson didn't look so disengaged and tired and just over it. It's one thing to have a tough season- nearly all teams and coaches go through it at some point...but to just look so tired, unable, and unwilling to adapt. He just comes off as disinterested and/or lost which signals to everyone that he doesn't know what he's doing or doesn't care. You can't lose and also look like you can't be bothered about it.

well I guess this pertains to people like me who never experienced happiness in the sports world.

Since we’re Indiana and making the tournament gets you a million dollar raise, Holtmann never would’ve been fired at IU. NCAA tournament every year until last season. One bad season last year, and then another this year. Can’t fire a coach with those results!

Dolson’s texts to Dusty May:

Hey, so you’re telling Ohio State no and still on board with us right?
Ok cool just making sure. I’ll let you know soon enough whether we need you this spring or not til next. Sit tight, thanks.

Heaven help us for the readers who see this and think it's true!  It isn't, is it?   lol
