Thanks for telling me something I already know. I thought the sarcasm was apparent but I guess not. Even if that were the master plan, it'd be a truly idiotic plan.

I saw that part. Just saying there is no plan, if the administration at IU was that smart we wouldn't be talking about Woodson as coach to begin with.

Never met him but my wife has. Her opinion is he is very smart and can navigate the politics of IU. Which leads me to believe he has a plan and is likely waiting until he can move on that plan. No inside scoop there just a guess.

Yeah, I would hope so, but so far, I guess he hasn't found the opportune moment.

Yes, he lost his team this year but would Holtman be an option in a year. Had some really good teams. Knows the league and can recruit. Can’t believe DePaul would have a huge buyout

I thought Holtmann said he didn’t want to be in a fishbowl like IU. DePaul might be the best place for him.

I met him a few times before he was AD and would add that he was very active in making sure events went well. That requires a lot of planning and awareness of how things are going during the event.  Seemed to have no ego and seemed to be a great #2 guy. Does that translate into being a great AD, no idea but I think it is safe to assume he has some plan for basketball. Some may not like his plan but I doubt he is just winging it.

As a #2 guy he was key in managing a lot of donor relations and helped secure funding for the Assembly Hall renovation. We might not like some donor choices but losing the donors would be far more damaging than keeping a coach 1 more year.

I would rather have Shaka or May and only $2mm in NIL than Woodson and $6MM in NiL

I am on board with fire Woodson. But what kind of success next year would  it take to get him off the hot seat. Making the tournament and getting to the sweat sixteen. That would sure make it hard to fire him. I for one can’t make myself pull for IU to lose. i for don’t expect a successful year but you never know.

I want Woodson gone because I don't think he can be successful as a college coach. If he proves that wrong by making the S16, I'd be fine with keeping him for a while longer. I doubt he makes the tournament next year but right now we don't even know who will be on the team. Maybe he'll get the overwhelming amount of experienced talent he needs to succeed.

I can’t either, no matter how much I despise Woodson a person and coach.  I think the sweat 16 or bust, IMO.  Personally, I don’t think he even makes the tournament again for 3 reasons:

1). He is still going to play 2 bigs and have inside/out offense that gets bogged down and is easy to guard

2) He won’t be able to recruit enough talent or shooters to get him over the proverbial hump

3) He isn’t a good enough coach to develop team chemistry and that will be his downfall

I am are there are about a dozen more reasons but those are at the top, IMO

Regardless of who Woodson is able to lure to Bloomington with NIL $$$, he still has to mold them into a team. I have zero confidence in his ability to get that done.

I’ve known Scott for years and I think he loves IU. He’s a really good guy and hopefully he’s figuring things out. I guarantee he knows how everyone feels.

Someone send me Scott’s digits and I’ll give him a holler. I’d be happy to report his plan back to everyone.

So, realistically, are his hands tied by the BoT, or is he complicit in the whole "Woodson, year 4" thing? Is he done courting Pearl?

I don’t know the answer to that. I’m guessing he’s weighing all of his options. Right now he’s hoping Mike hits a home run in the portal but also preparing for a fielder’s choice which is more likely.

I’ve heard our coach is working so hard that he spent the weekend celebrating his birthday at one of his other houses.

So Atlanta, I just can’t root for this guy anymore
