Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Sorry -- having a brain fart.

Who's Steve?

Ferguson.  Chairman of Cook Medical, former Chair of BoT, etc. and was a mentor to Woody a long time ago or something like that, I can't remember, but they're close.  Buckner and Ferguson pushed the Woody hire here.  Apparently IUBB is their personal sandbox and they can appoint their old pal to be coach.  Very poor behavior from them.

Here’s the rub man. Questioning Stevens’ commitment to the grind or to recruit is rich coming from you given that you held water for our current coach all summer and through much of this disaster of a season.
A coach who has actually shown ZERO commitment to the grind or to recruiting.

Stop bringing up hypothetical concerns when you completely ignored them for your preferred guy. Your credibility is in the ******* toilet

IDGAF what you think

I hope if Dolson questions Brad Stevens work ethic/committment level, Brad gets up, walks out and laughs in Scotts face and tells him we deserve the hell hole we're in.

He's not been interested in the job either of the last two times its been open. I think it goes without being said where his heart lies.

But I'm not going to stop you from thinking the third time is the charm.

Ferguson has to be like 85 years old at this point, right?  How much influence can he have?

You and I are fairly closely aligned on a good number of IUBB related things, but you can’t seriously expect everyone to let you off the hook about Woodson after all your huffing and puffing. Not that easily / quickly. Might you enjoy the board more if it were less combative? We all have to be able to laugh at ourselves sometimes… You still have those “receipts” by the way? :)

Brad Stevens discourse is sooo tired. Would be great if he comes here, sure. Until I see it with my own eyes, I can’t get excited about it. I’d rather talk about all the candidates who wouldn’t necessarily win the press conference than the handful we know that would. Wake me up in March…

Chris Beard, Chris Mack, and Will Wade wouldn't win many press conferences but all have giant stones that could handle all the noise that comes with the territory.

Ohh... I can't imagine someone in his position thinking it was a race issue, now, right? lolololol

ok ok ok... I'll stop. But.... Doyel stating that is ABSOLUTELY par for the course for that p****.

He didn't mention anything about race in his article

Mack fell pretty hard at Louisville, pretty fast. 16 mths. after a 24-7 season and number 1 ranking he was canned.

Still wild how fast that crumbled.

Let me off the hook for what? I was very practical and level-headed this summer in saying that Woodson deserved a 4th season and wasn't going to join the mob just yet while readily acknowledging he was now on the clock. I wasn't ready to dance on any graves before Thanksgiving. IU put together a nice little run a few weeks back but could not handle any kind of sustained success. The energy level and effort reflected the last two games signals that the players have quit on their coach. For that, a change is not only needed, but warranted.

It's as simple as that. I didn't buy into the mid-season rumors that Bruce Pearl was leaving Auburn and I didn't take Woodson's comments on senior day at a personal level.

I’m going to disagree with you here. Going back twenty years the title has only been won 4x by a single time winner: Bennett, Calipari, Ollie (lol), and Scott Drew

I hear you however IU has lost the seat at the upper tier table.   IU just needs to work on getting a good coach that gets them in the conversation of competing for the top of the B1G and making second weekend tournament runs.    Worrying about finding a coach that is going win it all quickly or within the first couple of years isn’t likely to happen.  Find a great college basketball lifer that brings back pride and gives fans a chance to watch their team in the second week of the tourney and compete for B1G titles then worry about getting the seat back at the table with the true contenders later.   IU has to grind now just like any other program fighting to get to the top
