Nice W, happy for the players. I don’t think this moves the needle much, Maryland is an absolute mess. Beat Sparty and win a couple in the BTT and the conversation probably changes. This doesn’t change the fact that next year is going to be a total rebuild. Woody wasn’t hired to do a whole rebuild and shouldn’t be allowed to try in year 4. I don’t think a few inspired games by the team changes that. Just my opinion 

The heck it doesn't. Marland stinks but any win helps Woodson big time.

Lol my health is just fine dude. I have more in life than iu hoops I had just hoped we could once get a real coach but some things are not meant to be. Oh well we have the women going forward to root for.

I do believe what Chris says when he posts it, but have you seen and heard what this administration does? Until they actually make the right move, hard to have faith totally

Here’s my take on that game as well as most games this season. Maryland sucks. That coach should get the Holman treatment. Why does IU constantly fall behind 10+ points and a miraculous comeback is required? Last game it was Ware turning in an all time performance, this game required a Maryland meltdown. IUBB at its finished should have coasted against this Maryland team.

They’re the same incompetent morons who hired Woodson in the first place. The same morons who gave him a $1 million raise for winning one tournament game in two years. An utterly unserious program. They would only have fired Woodson if things bottomed out.  That’s why losing every game was so important. Woodson will 100% get another year now. Next season is over before it even begins.

I feel a new coach is still “afoot”. With Dolson apparently reaching out to several former IU greats and getting a resounding affirmation from them wanting Woodson to move on is also comforting. JMO

I await Chris’s juice like the rest of us, but I’ll say one possibility we haven’t discussed much is something like:

1. Woody gets one more year and brings together a good team — say roughly last year’s or better. This probably includes some genuine strategic changes in roster and play style approaches.

2. There’s an agreement it’s the last rodeo.

There are some issues with the idea. Makes the crucial ‘25 class tough, no obvious successor by his side, hard to project who signs an extension and takes himself off the market or what other jobs are available, so on. But you can squint and see a team next year with almost every contributor back except Ware, healthy Newton, portal guard reinforcements, and McNeeley being quite good.

That leaves IU better than he found it by quite a bit. It gives some younger candidates awhile longer to lengthen resumes (or prove they’re paper tigers).

Not my favorite outcome, but I think it’s clear one way or another there will be someone different in charge long-term.

I'm done worrying about what is going to happen after the season. Beating a .500 team on the road shouldn't change the outlook for the future of the program. If we have a guy like Bruce Pearl lined up for next year, it shouldn't matter how many games Woodson wins the rest of the season. You make the move. I do think the more games that are won, the more things getting interesting.

Loss at minnesta cause they are actually good. Beat ms at home. Win 4 of the 6. All the need ustify bringing him back nd maybe a raise.

And Derick Queen chose that program over ours, which kind of says a lot about Woodson's lack of recruiting energy (see how I did that? didn't use the word lazy).

Right, I mean I get it. It definitely is hard to have faith in this administration, but it just feels like this could be different. If Dolson happens to think he’s got a guy in the bag, or at least heading smoothly in that direction then you’ve GOT to make the move. I think the comments Dolson said when he fired Allen to get Cignetti relate to the basketball program as well. Looking toward the outlook of the future, setting up for long term success, etc. 

Again, this is mostly wishful thinking on my part and will certainly not be surprised if we find out they let Woodson return. I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Agree. Indiana was down 10 at half and then caught fire. Inconsistent play has been one of the knocks on the Woodson coached teams

This one game doesn't do anything by itself. Pair it with Wisconsin and then MSU plus a couple BTT games and it may. There's also still the possibility Woody decides the retirement package doesn't sound too shabby.

Things can always change that’s what’s scary in all of this. We won’t know anything for almost a month. But Dolson has done the work.
