After this I'd be calling a meeting with Woodson.

Changes have to be made, make them. If not, I'll think about what changes I have to make. It's your roster, no excuses. Figure it out, fix it. Period.

End of meeting.

"S**t, give me that 12.5milly, Scott."

-Woody

End of meeting.

Yup. This season is long from over but if the time ever came it would likely be more or less that simple.

MW: "S**t give me that $12.5 million."

SD: "The payout is spread over 20 years; how about $9.5m mucho pronto?"

MW: "S**t; that'll work."

Call to Dusty, who currently makes $1.25 million annually:

SD: "The job is yours for $3.5 million annually."

DM: "With lots of incentives? Yup, I'm in."

So we'd save another $3 million that way, because Woody makes $4.2m annually.

Total cost? $5-7 million. Pocket change for a major revenue business like IUBB.

Really hate to be that guy, but...

Following last night's beatdown, we've now lost 14 games by 15 or more points under Woodson. Archie Miller in 4 years lost 17 by that margin or more. Tom Crean lost just 8 over his final three seasons.

It's year 3 and he could very well have more than Miller did in 4. That's suboptimal.

EDIT: Doesn't help when the tougher teams we schedule like Zona or UCONN or Auburn take us behind the woodshed regularly.

When I saw this stat I couldn't believe it. So bad.

Currently, we are soft and fundamentally unsound.

We got talent.

Get back to basketball basics and let it rip.

Seems so simple….

....First off, I am very disappointed in last night's performance, especially the amount of time off between our last game.

Several on here may not agree with me on this, but here are several observations that really stand out with how/why this team is currently playing. (IMHO)...

- We are an extremely young roster with a lot of new faces. XJ is the only player from the original starting 5 from last year. (TJD, JHS, XJ, Kopp, Thompson). **Reneau started some games and got more and more minutes as the season went on.

- We are in desperate, desperate need of smart, vocal leader on this current team! Last year's team had several starting with TJD, JHS, XJ and Race (when healthy and playing well).

- Ware has been a welcomed addition and has not disappointed,........... However, for us to continue to grow, he has to be more vocal and be more aggressive.

- We appear rudderless from a PG standpoint at this stage in the season and lack confidence shooting the ball from our guard play.

- Woodson banked/counted on bench players, Gunn and Banks to step and make positive impact at guard play over last year. (Banks has made some welcomed improvement, but.....)

- Without freshman Cupps forced into the starting PG spot, we quite possibly could be below 500 right now!

- XJ at starting PG is now the X factor to moving this team forward in a positive way. It is HIS time to shine and establish leadership. His best assets are his speed, court awareness, ball handling and passing. On the flip side, they have been his Achilles Heal too. Which one are we going to see from here on out?

- I have said this from day one, freshman guard, Jakai Newton is a HUGE LOSS to this year's team.  IMO, he was the X factor at guard play that we are missing.

- Most every player has asperations to play at the next level, whether the NBA or over seas. Coach Woodson has coached and been around the NBA long enough to know what it takes to get them there.

- Lastly, with all this being said, you have to play with the hand you're dealt. The coaches coach and prepare a game plan to be executed successfully. It's then up each individual player to fully buy in, perform and execute that game plan.

- "Is it the chicken or the egg?" Whose fault is it, the coaches or the players? I tend to lean towards the players not successfully completing their assignments properly.  IF NOT, YOU GET RESULTS LIKE LAST NIGHT!

Go IU!

One bad game doesn't have me ready to panic. I am very very concerned though by the same issues on the court and Woodson's press conference yesterday. He sort of threw the guards and Mackenzie under the bus... he's the one who built the roster. A little accountability would be nice. There's got to be a lot of mixed feelings in the locker room. JHS was getting roasted on Twitter last night for playing poorly with the Lakers... sure would be nice if he were playing himself into the lottery instead. Hope Mackenzie is taking note...

Getting to the tournament would be a great year. But the bar has to be higher in year 3. Get them playing strong through the rest of the conference season then go get some stud guards Woody!

I've seen several tweets saying the same about Woodson deflecting onto players, which it very well could be and I see your point. At the same time, publicly calling out your two Senior guards who aren't performing and a burger boy who is not performing is justified and maybe meant to send a message to them. Perspective - "I thought Alford played horrible tonight" from Woodson's coach in a post-game presser.

I do love to see the battle between Banks and Gunn to see who’s worse each game.

Also last night showed why Leal doesn't need to play

Lol. Seriously, can we just move on from those two? I think we will this off season.
It’s a bad when one of them is out on the court, and nothing short of a disaster when they’re both playing at the same time.

That’s really eye opening…and not in a positive way.

I think 75% of the problems fall on Woody. Fans don't want to face the fact he's a C- coach. And it doesn't help he's stubborn. And even if he wasn't, his top 2 assistants are about as worthless as can be from a basketball IQ standpoint.

You are too nice. Woodson is a D- coach at best. Unfortunately the best coach and team in the state is Painter and Purdue. He has built depth, both short term and long term and he has athletes. We have zero athletes, a patchwork roster and zero depth. This year's team is not good and if you look at next year we are in deep sh!!. Heck, most of our players couldn't guard a fence post and their basketball IQ ranks right up there with the assistant coaches.  I don't think we are a tournament team and will probably be a bottom feeder in the conference.

But Painter wouldn't have had time to build that here at IU. Our fans would have had him fired after his first NCAA loss

Painter’s first five seasons:

9-19

22-12 (round of 32)

25-9 (round of 32)

27-10 (sweet 16)

29-6 (sweet 16)

He built his program almost immediately and has had few down years since. Woodson’s IU program is spiraling downward after just 2.5 seasons.
