Let’s face it. This program made the wrong turn in the road by essentially giving itself the death penalty in 2008 because we’re self-righteous. Hell, our school didn’t even allow us to finish the season with our coach when we had the taleny to win a title in his second year. We actually had a HOF coach on our sidelines who would’ve had a title or two under his belt by now at IU. Sampson coaches circles around Crean, Miller and Woodson.

The moral high we got though was worth at least 3 titles.

100%. What’s funnier is everything Sampson did is 100% legal now. Coaches get away with much worst to this day.

Crean was close but he was too much of an idiot in 2013 to outsmart a zone.

Crean wasn't close to anything... couldn't get out of the Sweet Sixteen with the #2 and #4 picks in the same NBA draft...

And Woodson is NOT the answer.

Let’s face it, we suck on both sides of the ball from behind the arc!

I'm sure our players look great against our perimeter defense in practice though.or the perimeter defense looks great against our "shooters". One or the other, it'd explain the complete lack of urgency or changes.

Hop on the charter, should be home by 1AM.
Sleep on the way back. In the gym running till you puke, 15 minutes break with an energy bar so then you have something to puke up after the next round of running.

Welp…bad road losses happen. No need to get real fired up over one game.

More concerning is the same defensive issues that don’t get fixed. If we can’t guard the 3 point line and continue to give up 2nd chance points we’re going to really limit our ability to go .500 in conference.

WE NEED GUARDS

But but but.   Cj Gunn is going to make the leap next year. Instead of 20% from 3 he’ll shoot 25% next year with limited IQ.

We've actually shot it pretty well the last three games -- 28 of 57.  Still a huge issue with not getting enough looks from there, though.

I don't think I'm overreacting when I say this, but if there haven't been talks with Woodson about a succession plan, those might need to start soon.

At Woodson's age, he didn't need to knock it out of the park every season, but he needed a steady stream of upward movement. Ever since this season began, there's been little upward movement. Close wins that shouldn't have been close. Ugly losses. We only signed one recruit in the fall. There just isn't much right now to suggest this is going to end well...and we need it to end well.

Yeah, this L was one game... but the pattern on display tonight has been evident in almost every game this season...  the Kansas game and maybe Kennesaw St are the only exceptions... and they went 1-1 in those games.

It hasn't been just one road drubbing.  Even our wins have been mostly questionable.  This team may be 10-4 but they aren't any good right now.  They are the 100+ NET ranking they have.
Correct we had trouble beating cupcakes at home. Teams we should beat by 35.

The point of emphasis is it needed to end well. Right now, it’s not looking like it will end well and this program had to have that. I hope they figure it out. I really do.

Have we played zone since it worked so well a few games ago?

And that was against an absolutely horrible Louisville team that we were losing to late. Was another sign of how bad we are.

The Michigan game felt good for a bit. I don’t think I left any of the other 13 feeling good about this team.

And last season. And the season before. It’s always year 3 where you pretty much realize what the flaws are that are systemic to the current program…then it gets depressing from there.

I’m still hopeful we have enough talent to get in the tourney. There’s not a ton of Auburns, Baylors, Arizonas, etc… in the B1G.

Let's face the only reason made the tourney the the first two years is an all American decided to come back twice. Without tjd they were not making the tourney.

Crean and IU were indeed close that year. His strength certainly wasn’t coaching against zones but the Syracuse game has been mischaracterized as essentially a gimme game only lost because of Crean.
