You don't go from offering $70 million to Brad Stevens to turning around and hiring an 60+ yr old NBA assistant with zero collegiate experience 48 hours later. That isn't to say Mike Woodson can't or won't be successful here, but if Brad Stevens and Mike Woodson were the only two candidates on Dolson's wish list it even further illustrates his ineptness.

He was fired from Miami for being a middle of the pack ACC team in some serious down years and not being able to recruit his home city despite the historical significance his family name has in Dade County.

I'll even go further... Kevin Wilson had A LOT to do with our seasons in 2019, 2020. 

No doubt he inherited a mess.  Still, in his 5 years before he hired Tom Allen, he was 8-32 in the Big 10.  The first bowl game he went to, we were 2-6 in the Big 10.

For sure. But past won/lost record is not always the best metric of past performance. 

NOT that we're going to find a hall of famer, but Belechick's won/lost record was 36-44 before New England. However, there was something about his past performance; the leadership, the relationships he built, the innovation, that got him that Patriots job.

So, it's not that he didn't win per se, it's the program he was coaching has a much more richer history than IUFB thus the reason you say he didn't win? Or is it you're just not a fan? Or is it his recruiting, or lack thereof? Serious question, how would you feel if he accomplish the exact same results at IUFB?

If he went 21-15 over a 3 year run I would be ecstatic. But I know enough about Manny Diaz to know that there is a reason he's a defensive coordinator and not a head coach and why Miami didn't mess around and let him overstay his welcome.

...and lucking into Tom Brady is what allowed him to keep his job.

Nothing happens in a vacuum. It's not a coincidence that we had Penix and Deboer when Allen had his best years.

In Lewis’ final four seasons at Kent State, he led the team to a 22-21 overall record, including an 18-10 mark in MAC conference play. To put that into perspective, Kent State had failed to finish with a winning record in 38 of the previous 41 seasons prior to Lewis being hired as head coach in 2018.

He was a top candidate for the Cincinnati head coach opening this past cycle prior to the Bearcats hiring Scott Satterfield.

I'm pretty much at the place where I accept: the best college coach could come here and fail miserably, as well as an unproven coach could come here and have spectacular results. I don't know how any of this will work out, just hope it's a high character hire.

That doesn't tell me anything. 

That season we played 4 top 15 teams. 

We lost 3 of those games by 1 score games, and one was double OT to UM. yep.. RU beat us in a horrible game. Yuck still remember that. 

Wait wait.. his first year for the bowl was when Sudfeld+Howard both got hurt against OSU. We beat OSU if that doesn't happen. Hmmm .... Kevin Wilson was/is a really good coach.
