Woodson will be better when he finds that unlike the NBA, you can’t lose your next game and things be ok. Once he finds the right buttons to push after big, emotional wins, the team culture elevates more.

Right now, the team doesn’t know how to sustain momentum. Now I would like to see them win the B1G tour because they will be forced to learn.

Do you really think Woodson thinks it is ok to lose your next game and it’s cool?  Really?

This team needs Xavier Johnson back. That will make a huge difference. If the rotation was 7 (starters + X/Reneau) I feel like we would be more consistent on the defensive end. Keep guys like Bates/Banks on the bench permanently.

This is good to know and sort of invalidates my earlier point about coach needing to know what buttons to push after a big, emotional win.

Sounds like this one is on the players and maybe whoever had scout, unless it really was that poorly executed. That may be the case considering how they came out of halftime.

Idk the real answer but it appeared that maybe Kenya had the scout as he was standing next to Woody most of the game.

It amazes me that people have watched this season and say are we ever going to be good again. We’re a top 5 seed in the tournament.

Sometimes I wonder if I need to get a grip myself. Nah, just visit a game thread after a loss. The ability to just entirely lose the plot is off the charts.

Been wondering this myself. Did he get called on his shtick too much to show up tonight? At least be consistent and own it!!

I’m guessing he has been busy on the Rhode Island board telling them to keep the faith.  Their fans might be bummed because they didn’t win a game in February (0-7) but they don’t fully appreciate the 4+ years it takes to learn the packline.

@Rutger, @Kansas, @PSU, and Iowa we flat out didn't compete. That includes a game early, middle, and late in the schedule. Roughly 17%

@Iowa, Northwestern, @Minny, @Maryland, @Northwestern, and @Michigan St. we had halves we forgot to compete. That's roughly another 11% of games.

We're one game shy of completing the regular season and in ~28% of the time on the floor we looked like we're cool with just taking the beating. That's concerning and not the baseline I was hoping would be set with a veteran team in Woodson's second season. The wins have been absolutely fantastic. The laying of turds not so much.

Tonight is why I don't lose time in life watching games live anymore. Always recorded and watched at 32x unless it looks halfway close. Missed about 10 games this year.. no recording because really, who cares anymore. Purdue was cool but until we actually make a run in the dance, what is there to be excited about? Maybe it's just a hobby that has faded on me now. Gotta go eat my feelings lol

Sending out your scouts on an well-known enemy that has already beaten you to glean something different is a futile exercise.

Do you blame Woody or the players he is coaching?  I think he is stuck between a rock and hard place because of TJD.  We all know the stats, but the motor/drive was/is questioned now by some and a lot during his recruitment!  This team goes as TJD goes.  If this was JHS team, I think it might be a different story.

Go ahead crucify me now!

I think the staff has already told people and players that Geronimo, Bates and Duncomb are not Big Ten starters. Build around Renau, Banks and Gunn plus the portal

Are you saying the staff has directly said that to JG, Bates and Duncomb?
I agree with the assessment and also won’t be surprised if 2/3 or 3/3 don’t come back.

I’d add Trey to the Renau, Banks and Gunn nucleus.

Watching this reminded me why I don’t watch pressers anymore. What were those questions?

”Mike, uh why uh were they so open on those 3s?”
