Hot take if im IU im not playing TJD at Purdue.    IU isn’t winning the conference and that game is a bonus game that isn’t going to hurt your seeding if you get beat.   He needs some rest and that is what I would personally do even if he wanted to play

Defensible, though his head might explode if you suggested it to him. Now, if you plant weed in his room and suspend him a game, you might be on to something.
Assuming you’d have to plant it.

Good win but why does this team seem to struggle so much when the other team is missing their best player?

I’d feel a little sheepish…maybe…if we didn’t have the worst injury luck in the country. We’ve played all conf without our 2nd best player, half of it without Race, and just when Geronimo looked like he was going to breakout he got injured.

Weird observation- was it just me or did TJD not thrown down as many as usual, going for more traditional shots off the backboard? I always wonder how his hands and wrists are bruised all the time

It was close. I favor giving a guy his space to land after a jump shot. Kopp get close enough under his feet that it is hard to really get upset about that call. The JHS was worse but it worked out since he only made one FT.

I thought it was a flop but not a 'ffllllooopppp' that the NCAA supposedly polices.  Thought with the amount of contact that seems to get allowed, that's a no call.

I will say that it hasn't seemed to be that abnormal.   Point spreads of games don't see to change that much when a player is announced as a DNP.  I think coach's are better at game preparing when they an opponent missed a stretch of games as opposed to a guy missing one.

I think if TJD missed one game right now that we'd look okay (not saying we win, but would be competitive) for the first game.  After that, teams get tape and reality sets in.

Somewhere right now...Illini fans are saying they actually play better without TJ Shannon lol

If he misses a couple more games, I think they would change their tune.  It eventually catches up.

Have to say if he played today, we lose and it's not real close.

Walton and Hummel should never be mentioned as the best in the business. One is and one isn't. The Purdue Grad is one of the best .

I will say that I've come to at least appreciate Walton in the environment of late night Pac 12 games.  Those Stanford/Arizona State games are tough ones to call and keep interesting.  He's unabashedly a Pac 12 homer, but it's at least an entertaining listen when you don't really care about the game that much.  Outside of that element when you want to hear actually analysis?  Not so much.
