Pretty spot on analysis here.  And if we are starting from scratch again next year as Bozich seem to think, why not start it with a coach who will be here for more than 2-3 years?

Where does he say he thinks we're starting from scratch?

Wichita State plays at FAU 7pm on ESPN tomorrow. FAU is going to be must-see TV for me the rest of the year, I think.

I literally just tried to turn it to ESPN and it wasn't on LOL...then I looked at your times stamp and said 2 hours ago.  I'm going to be tuning in tomorrow.

And that assumption is being made based off the story put out by the people who ran him off.  The people we are all now discussing running off.

I would take Fife over Rosemond and Hunter every day of the week and twice on Sunday.  Those two dudes are supposedly here for recruiting and all the big recruiting wins lately have come from Walsh.  Those guys haven't done **** since Dane was fired.

So why hasn't Fife gotten another coaching job

I haven't talked to him so I don't know.  Do you?  Is he even actively looking for a coaching job at the moment?  He did announcing last year.  Maybe he is looking at options.  Maybe the way he was convinced to pack up his family and move here only to get tossed out after a year with a knife in his back from the awesome IU culture led him to reevaluate if he wanted to mess with this crap again right away.  People at his own school drug him through the mud.
He has a young family that he uprooted to move to Bloomington to have all that happen.  He has made a decent amount of money as an assistant coach so maybe he tried to take a break.
Who knows.  What I do know is that the narrative around that which got pushed came from the very people who are the authors of the current **** show.  So why should I take everything they say at face value?  And that includes Woodson.

Agreed. I’m sure Fife and I would have had the same lens during those times. Sometimes people don’t mix and it had nothing to do with basketball.

I want any staff to succeed at Indiana. I root for all of them until I give up hope. Woody has done enough through 2 years to hold off the hounds while doing it in the most pedestrian ways. That’s why the wheels of faith have flown off the car so quickly this season.

In contrast to Archie, hasn't almost everyone won at Dayton?

Dayton is one of those smaller programs where a lot of people look pretty good there and bomb elsewhere. Miller has won less than 40% of his games at Rhode Island and Dayton is top 25 under Anthony Grant.

To be fair, he went to three tournaments there after the Flyers had only made the tournament seven times in their history prior.  And since he left, they made the tourney with his players the year after he left and haven't been back since.

Archie had success at Dayton.....certainly didn't at IU.

Dayton has been a mixed bag.  From 1947-1989 they only had two coaches and both retired.  Jim O'Brien became an assistant at Kentucky after he left and then kicked around the NBA as a head coach.  Oliver Purnell went to Clemson from  Dayton and took over a bad program and built it into a respectable that made three straight tournies.  Brian Gregory left for Georgia Tech and failed and then didn't have success at South Florida either.

Correct. It was all fife's fault per the current crew that has us losing games by 25 points

The truth is probably somewhere in between. The average fan probably has no idea how much influence the prevailing institution has over the media narrative that leaks after something like that. Half the stories you read are fed from a comms dept somewhere.

I asked the Fife question last year and got a similar response (oddly enough, I brought up a mutual parting of ways with Woodson a few weeks ago and got a similar response, but it seems more have warmed to the idea after Tues).  It may have absolutely zero to do with Fife and Matta, but the truth is our defense has gotten progressively worse each season.  In my mind it is natural for fans to ask the question if your worsening defense has anything to do with your two most proven assistants leaving.

Izzo has had two different openings on his staff and hasn't bothered hiring him. That is telling. Some of his best friends are head coaches and they haven't hired him. Mike Woodson could be fired tomorrow and the new coach wouldn't hire him. The IU administration is not going to bring him back unless there is a new AD, Associates AD's, president, and trustees. So he should stick with business or TV

IU has some of the smartest basketball fans in CBB. But we also have some of the dumbest fans in CBB. I'm including myself in this category. People have not been in the game for several years and IU fans are like we should bring them back. Or whoever wins the National Championship we should hire them to be the next coach. All P5 jobs are close to the same. They all pay well, and most of them have families. It's tough to pick up and move your family across the country. The CBB coaches are a fraternity and they all know each other. I include myself because Brad Stevens hasn't coached a game in like 5 years and I'm like call him and see if he wants to coach IU. He's turned us down like 3 times but I'm like call him again. MY RANT FOR TODAY
