Only two were McDonald All-Americans and I believe Calbert was the lowest-rated recruit in that class because of his injury in high school

I was at IU then.

I know all that and I'm not disputing any of that.

I'm just saying -- that was the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation.

Someone else will know better than me but I think you can choose between a secret scrimmage and one exhibition game or playing two exhibition games and we choose to play the two exhibitions

This is correct. IU isn’t doing a secret scrimmage.

Well, I will say that you are 100% correct that the class was ranked #1 that year. I was just saying that this class could have 3 McDonald All-Americans in it if we get Queen too.

Also a little brag, a member of that 89 class is giving my family some wristbands to be down on the floor for Hoosier Hysteria Friday Night.

I was talking to a coworker who’s a big UK fan about Boogie announcing Friday and he didn’t even know who he was. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

The big UK fan friend I have at work is the opposite. I sent him the text saying Boogie is deciding Friday now and all he sent back was "WOW"... He knows he's going to IU.

Nover redshirted the year prior, so while not technically in that class, he was a freshman with that bunch.

Unfortunately, Funderburke only lasted six games. Lawson left, too. And Pat Graham kept breaking his foot.

Still was a pretty good group, though.

The only thing that concerns me with this recruitment is the “no more coaches visits” when it appeared both coaches might be boarding planes to head there, or at least Woodson appeared to be?  Optimistic side is he had to do that to not let Cal back in the door again but concerns me.

I saw every home game in these guys 4 years. Section G row 13 seats 3&4. Still remember it like yesterday.

Now back on track, Boogie is really good and is a difference-maker.

Man I can't even handle this.

If we get Boogie, Woodson is freakin making waves in CBB. Feels like we're closer to becoming a big boy program.

We wanna be one we gotta act like one. I've been critical of Woodson but he seems to understand that more than our last couple of coaches.

Personally, I think Crean and Archie wanted to, but they were prevented by the athletic department.

Within 2 years of being at UGA, Crean landed top-5 Anthony Edwards. I doubt he got him for free.

I don’t believe Vonleh or Thomas Bryant were free either, and I know Romeo wasn’t. And I’m sure there were some others.

What’s odd to me is that it appears in hindsight that they were only allowed to play the game with certain prospects. I can’t imagine it was Crean or Archie’s decision to not pay some of the other big fish they wanted. In any case, I’m glad it’s now above board and Woody is absolutely cashing in.

Crean and Archie may have wanted to recruit like the big boys, but even if they received those type of resources, I think it was pretty clear neither of those guys were getting us to the promised land.
