It appears we have lots of momentum on the recruiting front and should be expected knowing we hired enough coaches to 1 on 1 with each. The rubber meets the road when we get to see the team that’s constructed play and whether DeVries can coach. I remain cautiously optimistic.

I’ve got no problem with that.

To me, DeVries was a strong mid major coach at Drake and had a solid year, yet not spectacular year at West Virginia. I’m optimistic about him but don’t have any sort of extreme confidence.  I think our roster this season has extreme question marks and some notable holes.  We didn’t get some guys because we were outbid or didn’t go after other guys because they were asking to much.  That comes down to balancing the budget.  That also comes down to NIL being a factor still. Did we build the team we wanted or did we build the best team we could for 10 million.  There is a difference. And that is ultimately my point in it.

Im not sure what to make of this roster. I feel like every coach we’ve had in recent history has had a few glaring flaws and the following coach went crazy trying to solve for that that they created a new problem. We’ve been clamoring for shooters for years and seemingly we should have that but now lack size and rim protection.

hopefully coach got the roster he wanted and has a plan for how to use it

Ha.  Nothing triggers my inner old school RMK/curmudgeon IUBB fan more than the annual summer workout video.

First off, I hope the team is practicing SHOOTING!!! And enough with the hype for the cameras you guys, you gotta prove it ON THE COURT!!! ;-)

Also, no battling ropes and sandpit so far.  The Clif Marshall era is truly over.

Looks like a bunch of athletes….and Tucker. Kid is dad boding it a little bit.

It very well could be the oversized cut-off tshirt under the jersey skewing things a bit, but from seeing him play up close that guy is WIDE. Just a huge frame.

Larry Bird was ripped!  Yeah, not so much.   I sadly have a dad bod, but a pretty sweet stroke.  Strong enough to beat my 10 and 12 year old girls anyway!   Ha!  Just happy to not see the Cliff Marshall transition from athletic/shooter to Mr. Olympia/Brick Layer pics.

Does anyone have a realistic pool of 26' targets? Feel like we've offered 50-60 guys in the last 2-3 months and it's tough to keep track of on the recruiting board. Prince Moody-Alexander is already on board and Latrell Almond seems like the next realistic get. What's an ideal class size for 2026?

Rabby said 3-4 but everything is fluid. Derkack is another to keep an eye on

I've listed below all of our '26 offers but won't be surprised if there aren't 1 or 2 more this week.    Based on the reports of who the staff watched this weekend the most, my list of priority targets is:  Allmond, Cloer, Derdack, Diane, Kinney, Rippey, Smith and Thompson.   County and Taylor might be close behind.  @Demo and anyone else what do you think?

  1. Adkins, Davion
  2. Allmond, Latrell
  3. Bryant, Toni
  4. Cloer, Cole
  5. County, Adolph "Junior"
  6. Derkack, Aiden
  7. Diane, Arafan
  8. Gaskins, Caleb
  9. Holt, Caleb
  10. Howard, Bryson
  11. Kinney, Taylen
  12. Landrew, Colben
  13. Moody, Prince-Alexander
  14. Muurinen, Miikka
  15. Ponder, Marcis
  16. Rippey, Deron Jr.
  17. Smith, Jordan
  18. Taylor, Ethan
  19. Thompson, Anthony "Ant"
  20. Williams, Cameron

Off the top of my head that looks right, though it hurts this old heart to not include Chronister.

Derkack and Allmond would be very good adds, especially if we can lock them up in the early Fall. Gives us the rest of the period to go all-in on one or two big fish.

The big fish would almost certainly be 1 of the PG’s, particularly if they’re now trying to get in on Mingo. 1 of the PG’s, Moody, Allmond and 1 of the 5’s, say Taylor, would be a really nice class. I watched a few of Derkack’s EYBL games while I was watching Jackson and didn’t love him, though I did like him more than Jackson because he was just more aggressive on both ends. If they want him, ok.

It's incredibly refreshing to see a real coaching staff with a real shot at landing some of the top players in the next two classes. It's reassuring and encouraging to see the mutual interest from these kids, too. Love to see the actual recruiting process taking shape.
