Game Thread: 9/4 @ Iowa - 3:30 - BTN

Recommended Posts

How this game is relegated to the BTN is beyond me!  #17 v #18.  At least put us on ESPN after the Wiscy/PSU game.  Iowa opened as 5.5 faves which is now down to 3.5.

Happy to be talking college football again and excited to watch our Hoosiers!!

Man, I already have the nerves. Is it too early for vodka?

On one hand, some would say it’s never too early.

On the other hand, the game is a week away!

I looked at the Iowa board a couple of days ago and they seem pretty confident of a win. They have respect for Penix but not much else. This game will tell us a lot about our team. Win this one and I think we are on the way to a big year. Lose it and the questioning will begin again. Iowa is a program that I have always thought we could be. Consistently good, occasionally great. To be that program we have to beat that program. Can't wait to answer that question.

The depth here is just really friggin’ impressive. I can’t see anywhere that we aren’t legitimately fine going at least 2 deep, even with the specialists.

Not every position on the OL has a no-brainer back up, but a lot of those 2nd stringers can plug and play multiple positions. If we have to go to a 4th CB beyond 2, 3, and 23 it could get iffy.

The transformation of the DL in the past couple of years is insane. Between the DE, DTs, and Bull, every single guy listed on this depth chart would’ve been a legit contributor as far back as my IUFB fandom goes.

This is the kind of game that sets the tone for the rest of the season. I'm nervous.

I think the key to victory is simple: don’t shoot yourself in the foot! If we limit mistakes I think we win. It’s crazy to say but I truly believe we are the better/more talented team but we are also our own worst enemy. Time to shut up the naysayers who say last year was a fluke and prove we belong at the top of the B1G!

I agree with all of this but to a more specific point I also believe it's crucial that we either score or get stop on 1st possession. I think the crowd will be nuts more so than in year's past. But yes limiting turnovers and penalties in the end will be how IU gets the "w".

Absolutely because Iowa seldom beats themselves. They aren't very dynamic but they play hard and smart= a lot of wins under Ferentz. I also think IU is the better team, but winning in Iowa City is seldom easy. Big game and I hope IU shows up and plays to potential.
