Not a huge fan of Doyel, but that's pretty commonplace on newspapers' websites. It's just a way to denote that the piece is a column rather than a news or sports story -- or some other type of article.

Yup, and it's not like Doyel is the one doing that, it's the people that run the website.

Not surprising. Seemed as if he preferred being an on-court, sidelines coach -- as opposed to the administrative role to which he was assigned. But it was cool of him to hang around and help ease the transition between the Archie and Woody eras. Best of luck to him with the Bearcats.

IU now has coaching staff full of guys that want to be at Indiana. Can't say that's been the case the last few years and it's a great thing to see.

Bruiser Flint begets questions. Might have been excited but never fully embraced Indiana or maybe Archie.

Ed Schilling seemed excited maybe, but left because, who the heck knows? (Indiana ties). Was it the Keion Brooks recruitment?

Maybe Archie was the cause of these early departures (likely) but I’m not sure we ever had a feeling of them being fully bought in.

I hear ya. I have a 100 times less basketball knowledge as Ed and I couldn’t stand it.

This is another situation where I’d love to have a beer with Schilling and talk his experience. It might be eye opening.

I know Schillings FIL. From what I was told Ed was less than impressed with Archie. Probably should have been a warning sign of things to come.

Archie’s failure at IU will always fascinate me. How does a guy who seemed like a near perfect hire end up being such a dud. His personality, his offense, his player development. Duds all around.

Just a reminder that no matter how good you are in the minors you might not be able to scale in the pros. 
 

Archies gimmick worked against teams that were filled with players that could shoot or were great athletes. Didn’t work against players that were both
