Beard is only 46. He is a fantastic coach and a charismatic leader.

Beard would be...

perfect.

With him, the worry is if Texas ever come calling and he bolts. He is definitely at the top of the list with a big $20M type buyout. But even with that, would you want a guy that wants to be elsewhere if that came up?

IU Fans are Living Rent free in Goodmans head. And as a result he is acting like a pompous unprofessional jackass

I’ll send a little potential clarity our way:

Texas Tech plays Arky tomorrow. Either Beard or Musselman will officially be fair game as soon as that game ends.

I can live with either, but prefer Musselman  of the two, assuming he isn't just looking for another stop on his tour.

I have concerns about how well Musselman's style translates to the BIG as well him jumping back to the NBA but he looks like a good candidate. I'd still rather have Beard though.

I've warmed up to Beard a lot. I was originally cooler on him, not because I don't think he's a good coach, but because I thought it was ridiculously far-fetched to think he'd leave his situation to come here when he has no midwest ties and seems so at home in the south. But the way he's shown such glowing respect to Indiana this week - I won't lie, it's made me a little tingly, especially after the Dunkin Donuts fiasco. When oddsmakers start calling Beard a realistic pick, it's got the wheels turning in my head and I'm now definitely on board.

I think I'm alone here but I have zero interest in Drew. He has kind of a checkered past and seems like an awkward cultural fit. I wouldn't be so outraged that I wouldn't watch or anything (Alford is the only one who would make me stop following IUBB) but I wouldn't be enthused at all.

Each have their caveats, but I like Matta and Beilein a lot too.

I do not have #2 in mind and that is because of Dolson. I have been very impressed with him and I have confidence that he wants to get IU basketball back to where it belongs. So I am going to wait and see what he does and be completely happy with the guy he chooses to take over the program. For the first time in a long time I think we are in good hands.

I need to take some time away from here this weekend. We're not getting any news or leaks.

John Belien will be our next head coach.

I sure as hell hope not!

As I said... Porter Moser makes another final 4 run... IU has to consider him. I think he’s not the worst choice in the world. Still Beard is my 1B to Brad’s 1A

He’s a long way from a final four right now.

To me it wouldn't even have to be an "Indiana guy". Just a middle aged or younger guy that has a relatable personality, seems to have a good basketball acumen, and can recruit. That's someone with a future.

I'm in my mid fifties. I'll be flexible on the definition of "middle aged" lol.

you OK w/ Patrick Beilein? 'cause that's who we very well might get if John B is hired as Head Coach

ask the folks at Niagara what they think of Patrick now

I suppose I’d be okay with it.

If I understand the total of it, his Niagra departure shouldn’t be a lifetime sentence for future employment.

EXACTLY.....He's a Texas guy, all family from Texas.   Sources say Texas is his dream job.  We would constantly be looking over our shoulders.

lifetime sentence for future employment? no

someone I'd want as "Head Coach in Waiting" at IU? absolutely not

Not if the buyout is big enough.
