Yep, I'm not buying the raise either. Sounds like something made up to explain what when wrong.

So it's probably 1 of the following possibilities:

1. Maybe the undisclosed terms of the extension gave him more of a raise than thought. I assumed he's now in the $4-5 million range. Maybe it's actually more so the $7-8 million offer that has been rumored want as big of a raise as thought.

2. Maybe the offer wasn't as high as thought.

3. Maybe even a big raise wasn't enough to convince Stevens to go back to coaching college. Even if he gets fired from Boston another NBA team will ****** him up. (This is my guess.)

4. Maybe Stevens said no to IU a while ago and the info people have been receiving have actually been in regards to someone unknown and was mistakenly associated with Stevens.

There are more possibilities other than a raise, I'm sure, but there are what I can quickly think of off the top of my head.

I have a hard time believing Boston upped his salary eight months after they already redid his contract and in the middle of the worst season for Stevens ever. If Mrs Stevens pulled that off she ought to be commissioned to meditate peace in the Middle East.

Some people for sure did. Gambling platforms don’t shut down an option like that unless there is a lot of money on that side.

some fans lost their @$$ on this...

Just 10 mil.
Yea well I believed and still believe the 10 million was to get rid of the worst coach in modern iu basketball history and that says alot. I am not rich but if asked I would have paid more than I should to get archie out of town

Dear conspiracy theorists.
IUWINS warned us about the the bad press coming. Then when it came, everyone freaked out and started in on iuwins and chris007. So they colluded to make everyone believe that the presser was real and not smoke and mirrors to avoid the hundreds of PM’s. When in fact Brad is still coming..............................sounded good anyways.......

I get that sentiment, but in a year with free agency of transfers allowed and IU needing serious upgrades on the roster, I'm not sure IU could afford to do any option but to let him go. I've been around long enough to know you're the Archie guy as Walking Boot of Doom was the Crean guy, despite the evidence not being on either of your side's.

Waiting for Brad and the NBA season to conclude didn't seem feasible to me either due to the transfer rules this season. Likely all the big fish would be gone for roster upgrades by the time Brad would have been able to hop on board and it wouldn't be fair to Archie and his family to hunt for another job at that time either.

I miss Walking Boot. I don't think he liked me as I hated Crean LMAO!

In all honesty, I think Archie is going to be off this year anyways. He'll make more money now then he will again so he should just collect the checks and visit teams throughout this year, similar to Crean's year off.  I could see him looking into the Marquette job however.

I hope Scott had a good idea of who would come when firing Archie. Yeah our fan base would be pissed if Archie was still around in the summer but hey, we very may well strike out again and be stuck with an Alford level guy.

My biggest concern with this falling apart is I’m truly worried that our roster has massive turnover.

Even our boys wanted Stevens! LOL

Yeah, I could see some announcements coming early next week.

Don’t you worry my friend.  That is EXACTLY what I will do in the future.  I’m sorry, should that have been sent in a message?

I'm far more concerned with Dolson having to convince whoever else to take the job knowing they are at best the 2nd choice. And judging by this thread's reaction some of us will likely be disappointed with whoever the hire will be, no matter how good it is. That's unfortunate, but likely the reality in today's social media and 24 hour news cycle world.

I hope to god this isn’t the case. We could be looking at a Crean-era type of rebuild with this year’s transfer rules.
