Even from a casual fans perspective. You look at the coaches at the big schools who are currently winning. Not an an NBA assistant who has never coached college basketball. If they don't come then they don't come. But you still have to try. Use the big checkbook he apparently has and make each of them tell you no before you turn to the other guys. Mike Woodson and Dane Fife etc. would come if they are the first pick or the seventeenth pick. IU needs to swing for the fences before it settles. Hoosierfan2017 1

Not even a winning percentage in the playoffs? Who has only won coach of the month ONE time? Who has never recruited high school players? Who has never coached college basketball? WHO JUST TURNED 64!!! If you were a GM of an NFL team would you have hired a coach with a 36-44 record in 5 years? Well the Patriots did and never looked back. You just don't look at results but look at fit and opportunity. You also look at what the talent level of the team was and see if that team improved over time. woodenshoemanHoosierfan, BannerVille, Evariste Galois and 3 others 6

I've been on the record saying Indiana isn't a GREAT job anymore. It sure can be a great job but we would've seen a better coaching hire four years ago. Beard would be here by now. IUc2016 1

I don't think Tom Brady would be coming to IU with Mike Woodson. I don't really see the point of pointing to anecdotes and saying well it worked for them so it might work for us too. We need this hire to be a good one. If people think the fan base is bad right now, imagine how bad they'll be if this next hire flops too. Are we really going to take a giant risk and hope it pays off? We can't afford that. We need as close to a sure thing as we can get or we can forget about being anything more than Nebraska football, and Mike Woodson is as far from a sure thing as there is. I post on this website every day and I'm a bad hire away from becoming a casual fan. Why waste my time caring so much about a program that can't get out of its own way? If I, and guys like Treesh, feel that way, imagine how current casual fans feel. We've never had more than a taste of success in our lifetimes. If it indeed true, then Beard, Drew, Mussleman have turned Indiana down. If all this is true, then we're hiring an Indiana guy. I'm going to throw up. Who cares what fans list looks like because it is not what matters. I think Dolson knows a lot more about a coaching search than you or anyone on here does. He has talked to people to gauge interest and probably knows who is interested and who does not. His list doesn't have to be what our list looks like and to say he must be down to the 5th coach on the list is not accurate. woodenshoemanHoosierfan and T White 2
ap2345 Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 So was it Woodson, Isiah, some random NCAA fans, or a bunch of Vaccines that got off the plane?

He might want to look into options when this blows up in four years. Why don't you find another team to root for then if you are this unhappy with the program. Fans like you are the ones that give this fan base a bad name and why we are a laughing stock nationally. If you don't like leave and leave the actual IU fans to root for the team. We were always told to root for the name on the front of the jersey and not the back so I will do just that. I was just thinking about UCLA hiring Cronin. Cronin grew up in Cincy, and went there for college. He was coming off a 28 win year and had 30 wins the year before. UCLA was laughed at by every media member for how poorly they were handling their search but still managed to get him because they made him the third highest paid coach in the NCAA. I'm sure many UCLA fans thought why would Cronin leave an established program for us. I think there is someone proven out there that would come if we offered 6-7 million. I know you don't like him but I'm just using Drew as an example. I still don't know if Baylor could afford to pay Drew that kind of money. He wouldn't be making under 3 million if they could. He's had flirtations with other schools in the past. I know Illinois for example was talking to him before they hired Underwood. Trish, Kentuckysucks, Hardwood83 and 1 other 4
