I've been all over the place with my personal list of "wants". It's hard to ignore the noise, however, one name I would love to see more buzz-around is Moser. His teams play with purpose and on his terms/strategy. When Butler was at Stevens, they played as the underdog. Moser has had way, way less talent and superior results. IU will never play as the "underdog"; we need what he's putting in his kool-aid. While he has no P5 experience, I'd love to see him at IU. I believe no matter where he goes, he'll kill.

I hope that the previous reports of looking at former players are just smokescreens too. If we hire a former player then it means we struck out on all of our targets. There aren’t any proven former players out there to hire. That’s not to say that it can’t work out. If that’s the route that we take then I hope it works out really well. I just really want to avoid taking another risk with this hire. I want as close to a sure thing as it gets.

Maybe struck out on your list or fans list but who knows who is on Scott's list.  Also there is no such thing as a sure thing in coaching.

What is the holdup? Is it the tournament or something else?

It’s only been a week. It took Glass 10 days to announce Archie.

For all we know our next head coach could be coaching in the championship game (unlikely) but who knows!

Holy vague. When did Sam Story get control of Rothstein’s account?

Ask Rothstein to repost "Death, Taxes, Matt Painter" a few more times. Ignore this tweet.

I don’t believe that. Someone wants a raise and we can offer it.

Yes, this is what I've thought. People talk about how this program doesn't have the draw that it used to so we'll have to settle for a mediocre choice. I believe that is partially true in that it's not quite as prestigious as it used to be but there is still the history. If that isn't enough of a draw, it appears the school is ready to open the checkbook for the next coach and pay big money. Unless they've decided to go cheap after missing on Stevens, that is.

I think we’ll see things like this till the real announcement is made.

Dolson said he would be “reaching out to people within the state” or something like that. Could he be reaching out to former players to get their thoughts on some coaches or help with pitches

I mean let’s say it’s Beard. Dude probably got home late late last night or this morning. Maybe he wanted to take a day with his family and talk to them and see them before the hoopla of press conferences and everything breaks. Now that is all hypothetical, but maybe he just wanted a day to relax. Any coach for that matter

I can’t imagine Scott’s list being too different from mine or most other peoples. We might disagree on the order of the list, but there’s a pretty consistent hierarchy. There aren’t any ‘IU guys’ out there killing it as head coaches right now. You have to get past at least 6 or so names before you get to any IU guys.

Sure there’s no such thing as a sure thing in coaching, but I’d feel much more confident in Tony Bennett building a successful program at IU than I would Dane Fife, for example. Bennett isn’t on my list because I don’t think he’s possible, but you know what I mean.

2 things.

If it ends up being an underwhelming hire, like an IU guy, will we get the “We had our eyes set on _________ since the beginning of the process and wanted him from the beginning” schtick?

My 2nd point, I’d be fine with Thad Matta. However, he looks like the kind of guy who eats raw onions like apples. May not make sense to you, but it does to me.

Ok......

I think you are great person and enjoyed talking with you about other things but basketball.  I just don't know if you should even trust your sources that much since that been wrong a lot lately.  It is nothing against you personally because I am sure this is what is be said to you.  I would just not trust whoever you are getting info from.

Whether or not the only reason AM got fired was because he thought he had BS wrapped up, it needed to happen. It was entirely not an "IU athletics department" type of move, particularly with the "COVID" season. Keeping him for a lame duck season, justifying with the aforementioned C-19 excuse and lowering the buyout would have been soooo on brand for us. Glass would have, I think no matter the noise kept him. That said, we need to keep an eye on the ends-- another season of Archie just to fire him for 3.1mm on 1 April 22 would have crippled the next couple years of recruiting and probably have gutted the roster for next season. If you don't think the lack of transfers so far is telling, I do not know what to say. The players clearly have faith in Dolson, whatever that direction is, and until proven otherwise, we should too. Starting to run someone out of town before they have been hired is why our fan base gets dragged in the media. Some of these posts boggle the mind, people are upset a couple HOFers are on the short list. Everyone wants RMK 2.0 but then doesn't want a small school guy. We are all salty about BS, but another season of Archieball would have been worse than missing on Stevens. IMO. Apologies for the rant.

I don't plan on sharing an elevator with him! Win games and he can eat dog chit for all I care!

58 minute mark.  Can't believe I found it.

Iowa had a tendency in that press of the player guarding the inbounder as they were jumping up and down they would just keep slowly crossing the out of bounds line. Thinking Lewie had enough lol.

I’m definitely glad they canned Archie, just wish that plan A worked
