I just don't see a reason for the guys like TJO or Drew to leave for this job because they can win there and with less pressure. Why do you think UK had to settle for Pope or UL with Kelsey. Top coaches don't leave for other power conference teams. It shouldn't be real hard to understand that
I'd take the next sure thing mccollum over bronwell. Bronwell would likely be a bust imo.

I have been here lol.  ‘Insiders’ is probably the wrong word.  They are not calling themselves ‘insiders’.  There are just people on here that have connections the rest of us don’t.  They have shared what they were hearing.  For whatever reasons, what they were hearing didn’t come to be true.  They were the first ones to come back and say they were sorry that what they were told and passed along ended up being wrong.

That’s what makes this so fun and exciting right?  We all love IU basketball.  You think we are not getting a tier 1 guy.  That’s cool and I understand why you think that.

My personal opinion is that we are getting a tier 1 guy.  But it’s just one that I think fits.

Isn’t that what an insider is? Someone privy to inside information that the rest of the public isn’t?

I really don't get the mccollum love given our current situation. I also don't get people seeming convinced he would win here after what we saw with archie. Are people just blinded by cig and think mccollum is cig no matter what

Well, at least McCollum has won somewhere.  Some of the names thrown around haven’t won much anywhere they’ve been and apparently think they will just magically cross some threshold because they move to an 812 area code.

Go get mccolum and give him four years to get this going. Patience is key folks

in the years of NIL and the portal, why is patience key? with the resources we have to offer through NIL, any decent coach should be able to win here quickly.  why should it take 4 years? we can still build a solid base of recruits while bringing in great portal talent.....a good coach would turn that combination into quick wins.

in today's game, I won't have 4 years of patience to see if we can get it going....i want to see wins quickly. I'm not expecting final fours right away, but i'm not going to sit here for 4 years and be patient if there's not wins coming....

What makes Beard a top coach. He has had two really good seasons and the rest are just average. Doesn't that sound a lot like Crean

I can’t believe I’ve quoted multiple Scotty R post today but I’ve thought this too. Rosters were similarly constructed on each of their FF runs. (Elite guard, second guard to spread floor, strong big). I realize this is what it takes to make a FF run but he hasn’t duplicated it. I do think Beard has an overall hire ceiling and floor but obviously the baggage Crean didn’t have.

Coaching Changes (who is pretty “in the know” circling back to Beard.) This is in response to Goodman.

Reading the tea leaves….I don’t think this search is going particularly well.  If someone was a hard, definite “no” initially is now “well, on 2nd thought…” likely means one thing.  We are striking out a good bit on the top choices.

Putting aside my IU basketball cynicisms for a moment, I'm going to say that I don't believe Brownell is actually a candidate. I just have a hard time believing he'd be Dolson's guy. This feels like something we've spoken into existence.

Getting rid of Woodson wasn't easy, and required persuading some people with very deep pockets. I doubt those people favored moving on if the new guy was going to be Brad Brownell.

Moving on from Woodson, the candidate needs to have a name that gets the Boosters out of bed.

I rather have Dane Fife than the Clemson fella. I think Dane could be a hell of a HC again somewhere, but family usually does come first so I understand him stepping away from the game for a bit.

OK. Mark the date and time that this thread officially jumped the shark.

Dammit! I warned all of you! Don’t say his name three times or we wish it into existence….lol

This is what I keep coming back to. This isn’t firing little Archie after four seasons and no tournament appearances. This is firing a program legend, and RMK favorite with what looks like 3/4 tourney seasons (fools gold of course, but on paper it is what it is). Dolson isn’t firing Mike Woodson to turn around and hire Brad Brownell. I’m firmly in the camp he takes a shot on a mid major with an unknown ceiling before retreading an average at best P5 guy.

There’s some concerns with me regarding Ben, that’s revolves around style of play. Consider these rankings in the B1G / P4 basketball.

337 in D1 in 3PT ATTEMPTS / GAME

363 in D1 IN FGA ATTEMPTS / GAME

364 in D1 in PACE

OFFENSIVE RATING - 51

DEFENSIVE RATING - 31

That doesn’t get me excited. It doesn’t sound fun to watch although I watched the game today and it was pretty fundamental.

What if he has to because he has 4 D2 players that start?

While true, we’re dealing with the same guy who bought out Archie for $10 million to turn around and hire Mike Woodson.

Is misspelling almost every coach’s name a schtick?
