Collectives can talk to whoever they want when they want. They are not an official arm of the university.

Just saying the all time great coaches all started out at a lower level. If you think a coach is going to be great then it shouldn't matter where they come from.

Well sure but wouldn’t the comparison be better served for the top successful coaches that came from another P5 conference already? That list is pretty short too.

I'm guessing year round tampering is just status quo at this point. Seems strange that would be "allowed" not that the NCAA probably has any interest in getting in free market pissing match with players, agents, and collectives.

Are people really surprised that there’s rule-bending and constant playing in grey areas when it comes to paying college athletes? It’s college sports lol.

Neither is the "pay for play" model that it currently is... it  was set up for compensation for endorsements, and use of their NAME, IMAGE or LIKENESS ... but, well, that horse is out of the corral.

With the collective, I think there are no rules right now and it would be stupid for Indiana to act any differently than every other top school likely is right now.  If Fred Glass wants to talk to Mullins' Dad, free country.  If your school is worried about losing a kid, up your offer.

Now, do I think this is the way things should be?  No.  However it is the way things are and we have the weight to be successful in this environment so I want Indiana's weight thrown around.  We didn't do this in the shoe era and we lost our market space because of it.  It is the wild west right now and we have one of the fastest shooting guns with the most bullets.  Let's go get a good pistolier and use our advantages.

It doesn't matter what was supposed to be, it matters what is.  Put a good coach in place and bury Hurley with our money.  Couldn't happen to a better guy.
