I’m not sure I understand your point. My current position isn’t relevant. You can point to lots of athletes that chase their dream jobs which typically coincide with their hometown teams. And, just to be clear, I’d listen if the Astros or Dodgers called..

Won’t happen.  If Dolson hired Brownell I expect the fan base to personally hide-strap his @$$ to a pine rail and send Scott up the Monon Line.

There’s more to it than that. He has Auburn rolling and he’s got it set up so when he retires his son takes over. He’s not leaving.

Saban had LSU rolling when he left, one year removed from a national championship and coming off a 9-3 season. That argument isn’t persuasive to me. If he’s trying to set his son up to take over, that is a stronger argument, but isn’t dispositive in my view. Fair points to argue, though.

I don't think Saban leaving for the NFL 20 years ago is that relevant. 

But ultimately so much of it comes down to individual personalities and intangible factors that it's pretty hard to say anything with absolute certainty.

If you know Bruce Pearl you know that he has a massive, massive ego.  He’s all about Bruce Pearl.  He would love a fishbowl job like IU.  In honestly it’s probably his dream job in all of college basketball.  But the timing just isn’t there.  He’s too old and has it rolling at Auburn.  But given the right circumstances, he’d absolutely jump for a chance at the IU job.

Ok. Kalen Deboer had Washington rolling but left for Alabama. The point being that coaches leave despite the fact that their current team had achieved success. Certainly there are intangible factors that we are not privy to. These discussions are just opportunities to read tea leaves, understanding the subjectivity.

I agree this could be something that ends up being a reason he wouldn't accept the job. However, if he accepts it, I would have to believe at that point that he wants it and would put is all into it.
