The only reason I could think (outside of planning to make yourself available):

”Hey everyone, my buyout is very reasonable, come dangle offers my way so I can leverage them for a higher salary”

Maybe the thinking on his part is that 18.5 million buyout makes it completely unlikely that anyone would be able to hire him away, therefore unlikely that ISU would feel much pressure to further increase his salary.

That makes sense. Just a strange thing to try to wrap my head about. Probably why agents are paid the big bucks.

If we are going to discuss ACC coaches - personally I'd take Forbes over Brownell - older but I do think the roof is higher with him.

Plus he was known as a really good recruiter plus when he was an asst each school seemed to be very successful -

Question: Does anyone know the benefit of negotiating a lower buyout if you have no plans of leaving? I cannot really make sense of it. Not trying to insinuate anything with this question just trying to understand

Nope there's none.  If you have no plans to leave you gladly agree to a higher buyout in exchange for a higher salary or guaranteed NIL funds.

The buyout for me is the issue I think Dolson will have.  You don't pay 10mil for him.   Dolson you hear that!?

It's 16mil until April 1.

It's pretty similar which is quite funny.

But our division ranks this current year are disgusting. It's pretty shameful to be this bad across the board with this much talent.

It’s taken Woodson so long to learn winning coaching moves. He has slightly improved in some aspects, that certain fans pointed out in year 1.

He genuinely thought his NBA ways would translate and dominate college hoops. It’s taken him so long to alter those beliefs. He may never acknowledge it publicly but he’s learned some hard lessons over these 4 years. But that just moves him closer to average than awful.

Well, I haven’t seen you insult everyone’s cognition either, so you’re probably safe on that front lmao

Steve Forbes! Haven't seen that name yet; add him to the board!

Personally, would not. Hasn't yet made a tournament at Wake, though they've been better with him than the last two coaches.

Wouldn’t you having a lower buyout heighten the chances you could leave and therefore give you more leverage?

If his main gripe with ISU is NIL he can now say “Hey donors, my contract no longer makes me untouchable, better pony up”.. that wouldn’t necessarily make sense why ISU would give it to him, but neither does anything else really. Unless that’s the only way he’d sign.

They've done others too... Drew, Brownell, McDermott, Dusty, BS, Cronin ... so they're covering all of their bases...

Not that he's been talked about a lot but you can probably take Buzz off the list. That's A LOT of cash.

I obviously have no idea what goes on behind the scenes or whom Dolson is/was targeting, but other than some people here liking him -- I don't think Buzz ever was a serious candidate.

And not because he lacks the coaching chops. More because he's a Texas boy, and I think is right where he wants to be.

Yeah, I rearranged my sentences. That must be it. Sorry about that. Didn’t know cut/paste changed the fonts.

It doesn't... but it does retain the font/formatting from the source from which you are copying...

Seems like fans want him done at Wake Forest due to his annual 1-4 to finish the season and missing the tournament once again
