Yep, and I get it, I’d initially be underwhelmed too with all the names being floated and not having P5 experience.  But he’s a Cig type hire and a hell of a coach.  If UK and UL had to go down the list, why do we think we won’t have to?

yes, Collins would do better than Woodson but he’ll so would Altman, Hoiberg, or Willard. I personally don’t think that means we should hire them. 

How many schools would hire Herbert Davis?  They too will take big swings and likely go with lower options.  They are actually dealing with needing to improve their NIL.  Look who Kentucky hired.  I don't think it makes sense to say look how far IU has falling by comparing it to a hypothetical UNC coaching search.

Don't think we should hire a coach who is in a fight just to make the B1G tourney. He is a good coach for Northwestern just not someone I think would take IU to the level we want it to be

For me I also don’t think it could reasonably get worse. It’d simply be really bad luck to miss completely and find someone worse than Woody and Archie. We haven’t been awful under Woody, so the program is in decent shape and we have all the institutional resources to be good, so I feel good about it for the most. There are certainly names that would be underwhelming, but anyone committed to actually doing the work necessary to be a college coach will be a breath of fresh air after Woody.

True. He became a victim of his own success so when he really started slipping (and he did) they got restless and booted him. Barnes resurgence at UT is actually kind of crazy to me because he looked washed at the end of his Texas run. 
 

But those are still 3 straight big time hires, with a slight ding for the Shaka hire for going the mid major route. For a football school. People love Austin, though.

OK so I didn't miss anything last night. Wonder why it has been so quiet. I haven't been able to get much info from people close to the situation since Feb 14 morning. Even when I do they will never use the candidate by name.

It’s quiet because trying to choose between Pitino, Collins and Turgeon is freakin hard.

I think this is a good sign.  Maybe they are close to, or have, their guy.  At the least it seems like the search is under control and disciplined.

Scott has got it locked down. Best for our program and the national media spotlight imo. Even though it’s driving us all crazy. I don’t anticipate hearing Mark Turgeon announced as our HC though lol

Have you watched IU the last 30 years? This program has fallen significantly.

We’ve gotten basically nothing since Brad woke up on Valentines Day and his first thought was “ya know what would make this Valentines Day really special? A nice chat with my buddy Jeff Goodman about college openings.” Seems totally legit if you ask me.

I don’t think Otz is out of the running. It looks like the contract that was announced back in December wasn’t officially signed until Wednesday this week. There is no new contract from the one that was announced, he just finally signed the contract with the lower buyout.
