Why is McCollum the only candidate to have his own thread?

Because they locked the Ben McCollum thread I created four years ago. That could’ve lived on as a Ben McCollum watch party, fan club, and central clearing house for custom Ben McCollum t-shirts and coffee mugs, awareness for when he is in town for book signings and starting his own tequila brand, etc.

I saw him wearing it at the Michigan game in the concessions under the seats and thought it was Epps but wasn’t sure what Epps looked like.  Now I do lol.

It's actually not. IU can't introduce or officially hire a coach while Woodson is still coaching unless he signed off. He isn't going to do that. There's a reason Jerry gave the timeline he did.

I just can’t see any scenario whatsoever where he has already agreed to take the job but hasn’t informed the Celtics.  He would burn so many bridges.

And no, I’m not saying IU should’ve announced anything by now.  I would definitely expect something from the Celtics side.

I just read on here that several college coaches could already have the IU job but it wouldn't be announced till their team was done playing in the tournament. How is that different with Brad? It seems a lot of people on this board try to hold him to a different standard than other candidates. Almost like some people on here would be upset if he is the guy.

I have heard many reasons why it would be kept quiet for now. But the one I will say is because I don't know that there has been anything signed as of today.

I'm not suggesting there should be confirmation from Brad Stevens that he's taking the IU job or anything like that. I'm just wondering why there have not been any rumors or sourced information coming from the NBA or Boston Celtics insiders and everything concerning Brad Stevens has come from the IU side with the exception of the unconvincing Jeff Goodman tweet/story. I certainly would not be upset if he was the guy, far from it. Anyway, thanks for the information you share, as always!

This is a fair point but maybe the people in Boston like him as much as he likes them and they’re keeping it quiet out of respect to his wishes? It wouldn’t be a big circle. Someone like Mike Zarren knows how to keep a secret.

So, on announcement day can we get Dolson in a room with a table full of hats.  Each hat has a potential new coach's name on it and then he picks the winner.   Put it on peacock and generate more money to pay off the buyout.  At the end of the day, it will be the coach from IUS or some other out of left field name we were not expecting.

Still jaded from the last cycle.

Two random thoughts about Brad, though I try not to daydream.

1) I think the media underrates how much Brad might care about the IU job—it’s very plausible to me why he might want to “step down” a level. But I do think the rest of the Celtics don’t care much at all. They’re much more worried about the new owner. They have a strong bench of front office guys in Zarren and baby Ainge, etc. So I’m sure they’d prefer to keep Brad, but him leaving or staying is not as big a deal to them as it is to us. It’s easy to keep it quiet.

2) The Celtics’ front office bench gets at another thing that confuses me. If we get Brad, why on earth do we care about Hulls or Zeller or whomever? If Brad wants them, that’s great—he’s the genius. But isn’t it just as plausible that he brings in young NBA or college types with no ties to IU? He has tons of connections, and any young coach would kill to work with him—see Shrewsburry, Norad, and so on.

Not trying to cause any drama here, and I understand the attachment to former players. But if we get Brad, and I know we probably won’t, but if we do, I think he would be thinking bigger.

I would say two reasons come to mind as someone else said the owner is the only person he answers to and if he's not leaving for another month why say anything?

Two, the Celtics are for sale right now, so probably trying to keep everything quiet.
