Any real coach would not want to be announced while the current coach is still on the job. That’s just respect to each other in the coaching fraternity. Jerry has always said before the NCAA Tournament to put the spotlight back on IU. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jordy be the assistant GM for Brad. Hit the ground running.

So perhaps as early as when our season ends?  How likely is it we make the BT tournament?  Limited space right?

Only top 15 make it.  3 teams get left out.   They project to make it but still a path where they don’t even make the B1G tourney

I like flory but hes an undersized center height wise at 6’9

great shot blocker tho

It was so interesting from a basketball fan standpoint to see him develop as a player- from thinking about what to do/how to react to just instinctively doing it ...many games it was an alley oop festival and shot blocking clinic for sure...

Word around my neck of the woods is Flory is going to play one more year of college and with his host family still here, maybe the next IU coach takes a shot?...

Are you saying that Cory is coming? /s

Who is that?  Tijan Jobe, Bawa Munuri, Peter Jurkin, Guy Marchel, Daryl Pegram?

We’ve had so many big man studs the past 25 years it’s hard to keep track.

Peter Jurkin. Went on to average a whole 4 points and 3 boards for his career.

Saying he is not an innovator seems inconsistent with your earlier comment about being a great coach.

Everyone isn’t an innovator. Who are the true innovators in the past 50 years? Bob Knight, Paul Westhead for sure, maybe Boeheim or Pitino for their hyper-aggressive zones. Not many.

Bucky McMillan is maybe the most innovative that I’ve seen mentioned in this thread.

I said Gates is a really good coach… and a GREAT motivator and recruiter. That’s enough to go a really long way at a place like IU.

No idea..with Dickinson gone next year he probably increases his court time at Kansas and he strikes me as a kid who values loyalty; but maybe IU offers a nice NIL deal and he wants to be closer to his host family-who are IU fans. I'll keep the board posted if there is any potential movement...

I don't disagree. Plus, I don't think IU would protect him like Kansas has done from a compliance standpoint, and he knows that.

Are there any more compliance issue we need to worry about these days? High major D1 colleges now pay more than G league. But I don't mean I want Self at IU. In NIL era, IU is a MAJOR player, which has made the IU gig whole lot more attractive.

I really think it would be imperative for SD to keep the new coach’s name under wraps until the season is over. If we’re getting beat and the students start chanting the next coach’s name like the kids at the hickory huskers pep rally chanting “We want Jimmy,” it would be a royally bad look. If on the off-chance SD already has signed someone, it well may be possible to hold the info until IU looses in the B1G, if the people around you are trustworthy and buy into the vision.

I would add 40 minutes of hell as an innovation to the college game. Nolan Richardson was the damn good architect for pressure defense

Nate Oats is really trying to remove himself from our list of desired candidates tonight isnt he

On the other hand, has Rick Pitino been trying extra hard to be in contention?

I would like to believe but it seems the day (2 weeks, Mar 1st then end of BTT) we will know keeps sliding back. Would love to have been on the AAU call or to know that we indeed scheduled games because we have our guy. But the changing date.

Unless Dolson knows for sure Stevens is coming I start ramping up my efforts for May. Can’t let second choice get away. Especially since I have May right there with Stevens.

I don't think the changing date indicates anything negative. The timing for both sides would be key so there's no reason they couldn't have adjusted the timeline of things more than once.

All hypothetical, of course.
