Mccollum was always going to get an interview, that's been the case for a while now. Some question him, which is understandable, but Scott really, really likes him and thinks he'd do well here. Has to be a 2-way street - meaning he would have to accept the job if offered - but Scott is talking to him

Thanks. Last week you said you were hearing that there was mutual interest with Drew and Otz. Then Goodman said both were no's yesterday. Are you hearing the same now?

Bro, you are on a message board. Are you expecting everything people say to be well sourced like an investigative report? Lmao. Take everything with a grain of salt and believe whatever you want…

No, but when people make a flat statement like that and I know it's BS, I like to call it out.

Did Dolson actually say he wants a hire similar to the Cig route -- or is that just speculation?

We went the Cig route for that hire because it's football -- and we kinda had to roll the dice a little bit. We're essentially beggars, not choosers.

I would think with basketball -- even with our struggles over the past 25-plus or so years -- we can still think of ourselves as choosers. We might not get our No. 1 choice, but we'll get a good coach.

I think what they mean by the "cig route" was the profile he used to find a winner.  Not necessarily the level at which someone coached.

If not Stevens or May

put Schertz and McCollum in brown paper bag and shake it up and see who falls out first.  Hire him.

Schertz gave McCollum advice on his move to Drake from division two.  It must have been pretty good advice.  I like the Schertz story…a tennis star that moved to basketball that was never on a basketball team at 5’6.”

I like Schertz.  Highly engaged people person.

There has been a crap ton of Rabby bashing here over the last few months and I don’t get it. If people don’t want to pay for his services or read what he puts out then don’t.

why come to another board and bash him? It’s not just you, I’ve read it here over and over again.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but for me it's using him as a reference and reliable source of information. He's not reliable and his information is basic. I am not bashing Rabby as much as I am pointing out he is not really an authority.

Personally, separate from the above, I think Rabby talks down to his audience about basketball when his specific basketball knowledge is fairly average. I believe he's overly sensitive when he is pointed out as wrong, but really was irresponsible with information in the first place. Lastly for this message, after the Hysterics came on board there is a circus and performer like attitude I think he has taken on rather than a professional journalist. I used to believe Rabby was a pro, but now he's kind of just another blogger.

Who are considered the best HS coaches in the state of Indiana these days, out of curiosity?

It was basically Alan Huss while he was at La Lumiere from 14-17. He’s now crushing it in his second year at HPU.

Pitino and Brown never left a college HC position for another, so that's 5 coaches in 40 years (ES to UK in 1985) of college coaching hires to leave a successful program for a "blue blood" program with the last of your list being Calipari in 2009.

So I would say it's generally not a thing.

When did this happen? I didn't see any reports on ESPN or anything about this. Got a link or are you just spouting off the same message board rumors?

Since when is the standard of truth an ESPN article? lol. lmao, even.

That's the thing, you DON'T know it's BS. Go ahead, link me an ESPN article to prove yourself right. I'm waiting.

100% agree. This is get it right time. Or risk losing the levels of fan, booster, and donor support that are keeping this program on life support. But I don't need to tell this group. We all know.

Edited to say that the levels of success we all aspire to are what's likely on life support. I don't think IU will ever be less than a mid-pack B1G team. But the window to return to long-term national relevance is closing fast.

Nothing ever closes in sports.  One could argue the window for Indiana football to gain national relevance ended when Mallory hit the skids.  You’re always only 1 hire away
