As far as I know, he wanted a shorter amount of years but a higher per-year salary, an assured abundance of NIL each year, and a certain amount of money for the assistant pool.

Doesn’t make sense that he didn’t have an assured abundance of nil prior to that point.

This is what I fear the most.  That Dolson thought he’d get Stevens, it ain’t happening & now we’re scrambling again.  If that’s the case SD should be fired.  I just don’t have the faith that many others do because of the Cig hire…

Surely you're joking.  No other coaches can even talk about IU directly with Scott right now.  All he can do is his background work (i.e.; what brand of scotch the Beard like) and maybe chat with an agent or two "hypothetically."  Still a long way to go.

They added 1 year and like $1.5M to May's  already low buyout. He may be content in Ann Arbor but nothing about that extension would change IU's interest in May

It's almost a joke of an "extension" for a guy that may win the conference in year 1.

Yea if Dusty and Brad are off the board, it needs to be full court press on Drew and then Otz, which unfortunately means this goes for a while. It’s gonna be a long March

Personally, while I’d love to be wrong, I’m assuming Brad and Dusty are a hard no. Otz and Drew in the next tier probably and I also think the odds it’s either of them are very, very low. To be honest, starting to wonder if the eventual hire is even somebody we’re talking about much at this point. Doubting it’s any of McCasland, McDermott, Buzz, Cronin, Pitino Jr etc. Probably not McCollum, Calhoun, or Byington all in their first years at schools. DeVries is too but maybe we can take him from WVU? Hard pressed to pick an individual favorite right now at the end of February.

No, it's definitely more likely that SD should be fired. smh

Let’s debate something we can actually resolve before the NCAAT, since no one on this board, the interwebs, or the outer sphere has a “con-flabbin” clue who the next coach will be or has an actual say in any of this. So…top 10 Westerns:

1) The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

2) The Searchers

3) Once Upon a Time in the West

4) Stagecoach

5) Django Unchained

6) Shane

7) The Outlaw Josey Wales

8) Rio Bravo

9) The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

10) The Magnificent Seven

Now tell me why Unforgiven, either True Grit, the rest of the Dollars trilogy, Tombstone, The Wild Bunch, Ben McCollum and the Sundance Kid, High Noon, Blazing Saddles (or others) should replace anything on this list.

Shane undoubtedly #1

there's also no need to, outside of just a discussion piece

I think it was more getting one done to stop the questions. It speaks more to the fact he was never leaving Michigan in the first place after Woody got another year. Now you could, I suppose, hope that was because he (Dusty) knew he wouldn’t even be considered due to Dolson having someone else not currently coaching already locked up, but I find that highly unlikely. The most logical explanation is Dusty told us no, and knew nothing he could say would stop speculation sans extension. My opinion? Dusty was never leaving a high major that he liked after one season, and probably was never a realistic candidate.

Dolson’s a smart guy and with basically a year to prep I find it impossible to believe that the plan is a guy who ain’t comin’, a guy who ain’t comin’ and a guy who probably ain’t comin’. Sure, take the big swings if you need to, but then get into your actual process and nail down your guy. And it’s gonna take a minute. The downside of Woody not making it to the end of the year is the giant information vacuum that we’re going to spend the next 6-8 weeks filling with our angst and insanity. But they’ll get a good dude. They will. Not concerned about the size of the name.

If Woodson made it to the end of this season without being "retired," there would have been even more angst and insanity. It just would've been fretting about whether Woodson would be back next year instead of who the next coach will be.

I certainly expect that Dolson did have a longer list than just 2 or 3 names and he probably had a good idea at the chances of landing Stevens or May before Woodson was "retired."

You forgot Big Jake, McClintok, pale Rider, and Winchester 73

And a better non-con schedule and a basketball GM?  Can't remember who threw those out but thought you might have been one of them?
