I don't think you have read what I have said. Also, I have not seen where anyone else on here that I trust is saying were out.
I like Sam but don't believe his side of things but I will say there are definitely people that do
Thanks Chris it was because I wasn't reading. My app was running slow and I couldn't see previous posts. I just wanted to know what was going on before going back to work! Thanks again

I think we are 99.9% aligned on our view of the situation. Only slight difference I have here is that I really don’t think retiring Mike midseason in any way says something about Dolson’s preparedness for the search. I don’t think he necessarily had to have a good idea about if Dusty or Brad would say yes before deciding on Mike. IMO that was purely damage control and stopping a bad situation from becoming worse. That said, I’d sure hope with basically a year to plan, Dolson knows what he’s doing…

I agree that Woodson being retired before the end of the season was damage control. I still think (or rather, hoping, I guess) that Dolson was preparing for making a basketball hire since the end of last season. I'm not on the "Woodson wouldn't have been fired unless Dolson had his man" boat. So I don't think he needed to have a good idea of if they would say yes or not before letting Woodson go, but I think he did have that info.

To me, the lack of an official statement of support for Woodson getting this year shows that Dolson was likely ready to move on. Instead of that official statement, we got a "leak." Very tepid support for Woodson. As someone said, when you start wondering if the coach should be retained or not, it is time to move on from him. So a good AD would start to prepare a bit for that to happen.

One thing I will say about Isaac is he heard things that no one had heard. That's why I was agreeing with him on some things. Until he named a date, time, and channel. But before that, he had info in real time that I was hearing from the non-IU side. I don't believe he is located in Bloomington if he has any ties to the real Isaac Torres

I've decoded the situation... Stevens is announced on FoxSports at the appointed time - as Isaac said - and addresses the fans w/Woodson and the players on Senior Day...

Given many programs seem to be adopting the GM model now, has it been clear that Brad was being considered for the HC role? Or is it possible he’s being considered for the GM role?

Was curious on that as well.  Steven's a GM, bring in a young coach like a McCollum paid at a lower rate.  That to me is more plausible than Steven's stepping down as GM to coach college.

Looks like they’re retooling with an alumni GM too.

Enjoy it UNC… this seems like IU-like behavior.

One of my people down here was all pissed the other day because Roy came out in staunch support and they all thought for sure he’d get the Woody treatment and one more season. An extension? Oof

Let's assume that Stevens is the next coach for a bit.  Is anyone here worried about the expectations and if he can really live up to them.  He has been out of the college scene for several years now. Will the fan base give him enough time to get things right or will he need to produce in year 1.

I've thought about this, and to be honest I just keep coming back to the fact that Brad Stevens is an exceptional coach, still has loads of connections throughout the country (and especially Indiana), has the respect and admiration of HS and AAU coaches everywhere, and will have no trouble assembling a high-caliber staff and pursuing top talent. There's simply no reason he would fail here.

Sure, some might have unreasonable expectations. But I think if Stevens has us top-4 in the conference regularly and rarely misses the tourney and makes a reasonably deep run every few years, most folks will be very happy with that. IMO that's about the best you can expect from any potential candidate.
