Re-Chris Collins post, because it was you and you aren’t known for posting BS, when I started reading your post yesterday about Collins being the coach I was kinda happy. He is like maybe 10th on my list but was like, ok, let’s go!
then realized it was joke but you had me and I was surprisingly happy

After Sampson, IU won’t hire a guy with a show cause.

While that post was mainly in jest, I do like Collins. Would not have a problem whatsoever if that's the direction we went.

For whatever reason -- he does not appear to be a particulary hot name at this point.

I really hope we aren't all here thinking Dolson knows this has to be a homerun hire only for him to pull an Archie 2.0 man. I'm sorry but I'll be highly disappointed. I'm on-board with what @Chris007 said like 100 pages ago. If we are still conducting interviews, thats not good.

Really good point.

I have a hard time seeing Indiana hiring a guy who will have an active show cause when hired.

Honest question to the group:

who fits the bill of:

- will run to the portal not from it

-create a culture that is uniquely Indiana basketball

share names that fit the criteria Scott shared

They said that the coach's teams would have an identity. Nothing about that identity being "uniquely Indiana basketball."

You are right. “Bring an identity to Indiana basketball”.

Thanks for that

I would guess Dolsons thoughts are more of let's hire the best person for the job I can.  Coaching, culture, etc all fits that description.  I don't necessarily believe it's make a list of candidates and go down until one says yes.  Back channel interest, let the search firm do their thing, and interview.  Maybe someone down the list impresses you more than above?  He can't find the best fit without doing his due diligence.  Just because he or the firm are inquiring about coaches or conducting interviews with guys we deem down on the list doesn't mean those we have above have said no.

Curious why you say this? Most coaches won’t be fired until after the season is over and they will be conducting interviews pretty late in the game.

we got a jumpstart but still have plenty of time to find our coach. if we don’t have someone locked up it means we will likely get a sitting CBB coach and I don’t think that is a bad thing

How many 5* recruits have drooled over just to become nowhere near?

I'm sure the same as coaches, it criteria is met. That's all they can do in the current position and the ones before

I could be completely wrong. Have been many times in my life. :) Just going off my own personal feelings that if we are still looking, that means we've probably been told no by the top couple of candidates. Again, my personal feelings which as previously stated, could be all kinds of wrong. Haha

I’m pretty sure he knows that. From everything I’ve heard is when we retired Woodson we were already starting the search on third base. He started at the end of last season putting feelers out there. He didn’t think this season was going to work. So already had a pretty good idea what candidates would be interested and how much they would want by the new year.

and that's "I Don't Know" on 3rd right?... ;)
