I see all the names mentioned and a lot from power 4 conference team and I just go back and look at the recent hires of top programs. You just don't see many coaches leaving a power 4 conference for another power conference jobs. I just hope a lot of our fan base aren't expecting a big time coach leaving their current job. You might see a Big 13 coach leave if they don't think they will have their net to compete.

Listened to the Hysterics space while cleaning the kitchen, as Rabby intended, and I will say Eric shared something I found  reassuring.

He said that no IU third party has even reached out to Buzz Williams or his circle. Eric also said Cronin is out. If we agree that Williams and Cronin are tier three type hires, and that we aren’t even talking with them, then Dolson must have a pretty good guy already locked up.

Anyway, it helped quiet my Friday night case of the Brownells.

Or their analysis  points to hiring a rising mid-major coach over high floor - low ceiling P5 coaches with high buyouts. Moneyball you know.

I would do that before Brownell for sure. I worry Dolson does obsess over experience a bit. We will know soon!

Will we get to 2000 pages by Monday?

Only if they reintegrate the Beard thread, like a black market organ transplant.

Next coach who has not been mentioned… Avery Johnson!

-Available immediately, so checks that box.

-Coaching experience in a major college conference, although with lackluster results. Did go to one NCAA tournament, so checks that box.

-Was a better NBA coach, with 3 seasons of 50+ wins, so can relate to recruits what it takes to get to the league. Checks that box.

-Would make Crean look like he was in quicksand on the sidelines. So there’s that.

-And most importantly, was known as “The Little General “ as a player. That’s almost destiny, would bring the program full circle, and harken it back to its glory days!

Well done sir!

This slow down seems strange.  Did a large group of regulars get a private message and were told to quiet down?

Sectional Semi-Final games are tonight, but it’s oddly quiet

About to start a Van Halen tribute band concert. Been pregaming with some fraternity brothers. So in the goal of post count, feel free to ignore this.

1) I turn 60 on April 1. So for those of you wanting a coach for the next 20 years, great. I want a coach for pretty much now.
2) Having said that, I haven’t see a lot of coaches mentioned here who I would be super disappointed in. Maybe Brownell? But I just don’t think IU needs to get that far down on the list.
3) For coaches who think IU is a fishbowl and IU fans expect too much, pound sand. I want a coach who thinks they are the best and doesn’t care about too high of expectations.
4) Eddie Van Halen is a top 5 guitarist. All the haters who think he’s not, there are not 5 other guitarists who, when you hear them play, you know who it is. Well, to me there aren’t 5. Which is my criteria.
5) The NCAA tournament is the greatest sporting event. Period. It absolutely sucks when IU isn’t in it. So pound the **** out of OSU, and, as the youngsters say, LFG.

Unacceptable.  Can they not connect to this site from the gym?

Nah, everyone just needs some time to chill. Like a family that’s been spending too much time together. Those 50ish pages today are precious hours of our lives that we will never get back. So glad the mods made a new thread for the nonsense.

That will be enough of sensible talk around here.

Ready for this search to be over. Would obviously prefer an elite coach, but can understand an up and comer. Really my only disappointment would be another coach that is mediocre or very little success (Brownell).

Regardless, just hope the coach builds a very successful legacy and turn this program around.

I just have a gut feeling he’s the guy.

If mccollum is the next coach - which I’m pretty sure he won’t be - then any chance of this program being a top 20 or even top 25 destination is out the window. You don’t select someone hoping and convincing yourself they’re the next Bo Ryan - when there is at least an equal chance he’s a Licklighter or Archie - to operate a multi million dollar program with top of the line resources. He’s not the hire to make at this time.
