As a Christian, I believe that people can change and become better people. A basic tenant of the faith is we are all redeemable, everyone of us. So I will not write someone off because of a terrible action. Doesn’t mean what he did was right. Doesn’t mean he should be hired to coach at IU. But feel free to laugh, it says more about you than me as a Christian.

Agree with this 100%.  I myself have committed terrible actions and sin everyday as we all do.  I won’t get into a debate about Beard or anyone else’s sins, as I cannot cast the first stone

I'd be shocked if IU hired Beard, they passed on him before his arrest. This is also a guy that UK and UL passed on, and neither of them are afraid of taking a coach with issues.

Agree with this too. I would be highly surprised if it’s Beard

Looks like my Monarchs won (I live about 15 miles from ODU).

I don't have ESPN-plus, so had to check the score online.

ODU had a coach a few years back who was fired because of alcohol issues. Was a damn good coach, too.

Reading through this whole sordid Beard debate kinda takes me back to his tenure.

Think he's in the market for a job?

So how did this get back on Beard? It was getting pretty ugly in here again this morning, about 50 pages ago, so I haven't looked at it since.

Good recap of the day here:

You kids can’t just play nice for a couple hours while I enjoy a quiet evening in front of my xbox?

In all seriousness getting that personal over a basketball coach is absolute goofball behavior so if we could avoid that and keep it civil in here, I’d sure appreciate it.

Because I'm awake and bored I have to casually ask what you played this evening.

I’ll chime in on the Beard situation. Imagine if Beard was sitting in your living room trying to get your son to come and play for him. What would you think? What if he explained the entire situation that got him fired at Texas, would you believe him? What would it take for you trust him to be responsible for your 18 year old son? Would just trust that Dolson done all the vetting? Idk what I’d do honestly. Idk if I’d let him in my house to begin with.

Like I said….poster from another site:

“Chris Beard is the most overrated coach going right now. Dude is 10 games over .500 for his career in conference at the P5 level. He's had two noteworthy seasons, both early at Texas Tech, and that was almost a decade ago. Since then he's been mediocre city.

There is absolutely nothing about Chris Beard's resume that suggests he'd elevate IU to a top 5 program. He couldn't maintain it at Tech, couldn't do it at UT, and hasn't done it at Ole Miss.

But he's a "tough guy" and liked Knight, so that's good enough for quite a few people.

Edit: I know some will say Lubbock is a tough place to win, but McCasland has that place rolling better than Beard did at his peak. Might as well just hire him. Better coach without the baggage.”

it’s only because of Knight.  Get past that guy.  Beard will not be the guy.  Probably end up beating another woman because he couldn’t handle Texas and you think he can handle Indiana.  GTFOH

You're  either a woman, like to argue or under the of 30. The "because of Knight" might make you all 3.

IU is making an investment when hiring the next coach.  The analogy doesn’t really apply.  It isn’t about ‘forgiveness’.
