I do wonder what Brad could still be mulling over at this point. Unless he's trying to squeeze every last dime out of IU, it seems that by now any potential questions would have been answered, and any concerns resolved to the best of IU's ability.

So it seems to me that in all likelihood, he must either be in or out at this point. The idea that he's still in play, but not committed, seems unlikely.

Someone can feel free to correct me, but I’m nearly certain that last time before the job was open that Stevens or his camp said he would not discuss a position that was currently occupied.  I can’t remember the specifics unfortunately. I don’t think he’s the kind of guy that is going to try to bankrupt the university. He is wealthy enough now to call the shots of where he will be happiest. But don’t get me wrong, if IU lands him, I’m assuming he will be the highest paid college coach.

That's similar to what makes me skeptical about the plane tracking the other day. It's definitely interesting that Pfau's plane has been following the Celtics schedule, but especially when people have mentioned how past coaches didn't have too frequent of a back-and-forth during the hiring process it seems like he could be letting Stevens family or someone else use the plane. Would love for it to be IU closing the deal and do think he's at least considered the offer, just get the idea that even a guy like Osterman would be avoiding a take on Stevens instead of pretty much dismissing it at this point.

Love the rumors here during coach search seasons though, whether it's the guys who have built credibility or the new accounts that pop out of nowhere. So love the theories and whispers whether right or wrong

He wants proof from Chris and these guys, but he can't prove anything. He just wants to discuss the coaching search....but only discuss the candidates that he wants to discuss.

I'd expect actual dialogue about coaching candidates in the candidate thread. Stevens belongs in the same thread as the Tooth Fairy and Santa Clause. And should be labeled OT.

There are like hundreds of pages of substance about maybe 3 dozen coaches? Just ignore the stuff that makes you mad

What is your proof though? Stevens is as real of a candidate as Beard, Huss, Brownell, Cronin, etc etc etc. Half of the guys we discuss aren't even real candidates that Scott is even thinking about, but we still discuss them. Why is it that you dictate that Stevens is so far from a real candidate we can't discuss him? Heck I heard Phill Jackson was a candidate let's talk about him? People can discuss any candidate they want weather they are real candidates or not. Don't need you just crapping on the conversation because you don't like it.

If you aren't happy with the way the discussing goes here, feel free to pick your favorite and start your own discussion site:

It's amazing how very little energy you need to spend to find that exact dialogue everywhere in this thread. Hint: It's the exact opposite amount of energy you put toward scolding anybody who mentions Brad Stevens.

Nobody said “every” midmajor coach. But midmajors are risky and low majors like Stu posted, even more . Nobody should know that better than IU fans. We have run the gamut from Knight to Archie. The failures out number the successes probably in the neighborhood of 10:1.

There’s not going to be one stat or profile that’s dispositive. If there were it’d be easy and anybody can do it. You have to have an AD that is a top basketball mind or lucky as ****. Fred Glass was a basketball moron. We’ll find out about Dolson soon enough.

The only way to tilt the odds in your favor outside of  that is to hire a proven P5 guy. For IUs expectations that list is short: Drew, Bennett, Wright, Donovan, Stevens…That’s about it. The odds are really small for each one but thankfully you only need one. If Dolson doesn’t know basketball lets hope like hell he’s a big game closer.

If he’s neither a top basketball evaluator or closer, let’s pray he has a horseshoe up his @$$.
Dan monsoon
Todd Lickliter

And on and on. If dolson is going to stick his neck out to hire some flavor of the month he sure better hope it works out

I have no trouble not posting.

Just ignore these guys. Don’t understand the vitriol concerning your or any other’s post. This board doesn’t need any self appointed protector to save it from any perceived trolls. Most on here are able to decide what to believe or not believe.

This is rich even for you Stu

Compared to the McCollum, Schertz, McMillan discussions? For those who think those are also too "rich" I'm good with Huss being dismissed. (FWIW I don't think any of those are out of the question)

Hell, I took heat for suggesting Dennis freakin Gates! You know why Gates is an unlikely option? Because he'd rather be at Missouri. Equal pay, better conference, just as successful a program (far better this year), and he is building it himself. Yet people turn their noses up at him too.

I'm not comparing Huss to Drew and Otzelberger, but I'm curious why he is an inferior possibility for discussion compared to any other mid-major coach. Because a mid-major coach may end up being our next coach.
