Like you said, Woodson will probably fumble his way into the tournament this year. Three seasons ago was a play in game and a throttling by St Mary’s. Then another berth and smacked around by Miami. Several tournament berths but unimpressive showings. I would hope the next coach with its NIL consistently has IU AT LEAST as a 5 or 6 seed in the tournament every year, which would also translate to being in the top 25 yearly and in play for B1G championships. Those should be the expectations, but like I said, I’m probably delusional. I think that's fair, though personally I'm fine with down years being worse than that as long as there is a reason (injuries, bad luck, etc.) and there is a clear plan for improvement with incoming recruits, new assistants, and/or a strategy change. I think it's a good sign IU and Scott made it clear limping into the tourney this year after imploding last year isn't good enough given the significant resources provided to the program. I also think the poor effort and incompetence behind the scenes factored into Woody getting fired, which is good too. 8bucks, Chris007 and theriverpilot 3

If the resources are so great, why haven't there been decent results over the last 25 years? Shouldn't the resources elevate even a crap coach? Or were the resources nonexistant until this year? The current landscape of NIL has completely changed the resources conversation. So bringing up anything about resources over the last 25 years is really pointless. Now obviously resources does not guarantee success. But there is no doubt whoever the next coach of IU is will have the best resources of any coach Indiana has seen in the post Knight era. But a competent coach will usually overcome those and pull off a 20+ win season Pagoda 1
Hornsby Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 The caveat to the blanket statement there is they've already shown they can do good things with less. And imagine Mike Woodson with, say, Northwestern's resources and basketball commitment. That's terrifying. We just saw an elevated Mike Woodson via 6 million in NIL.Imagine Woodson pre nil. Seriously though why would Brad leave the situation he's in now knowing what would be expected and the pressure us maniacs would put him under? Before you guys jump my @$$ just know there's a little sarcasm mixed in the post.

Being the HC at IU is hard enough on families if the coach is good, much less failing, but at least they get fired and everyone leaves. If Dusty came and failed it would be much different being essentially from IU. I don’t think it’s illogical at all that he wouldn’t want it right now while building his resume. To me, it feels like if Dusty has a strong career for 10 years or so, then he might feel secure enough to come home. I dunno, just my opinion. Muskie plays the four and woodenshoemanHoosierfan 2

ziggyiu Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Anyone have a beat on any more intriguing flights out of and into the Bloomington area? I didnt put a lot of stock in the Brad to IU talk, but the one thing that piqued my interest in the possibility was the flights around Boston and Bloomington in early February. Since then has anyone been tracking flights? Not necessarily connected to Brad, but any interesting patterns anywhere else in the country? (I know with a search firm we wouldn't necessarily see flights into/out of Bloomington. And I know we may not be at the point where folks need to meet in person, but the fact that it seemed we had so many seemingly connected flights around Bloomington and Boston early and nothing anywhere of late seems interesting.) I understand these flights don't necessarily portend anything, but they are good message board fodder. JPCIVOP, HoosierSadaseci and thebigweave 2 1
