I would get behind him too, even though it will be very hard. I watch a lot less IU hoops that I ever have, and doubt that would change much if Brownell is coach. Part of it is kids sports schedules, and the other part is lack of enthusiasm for the program. 
 

Would rather get stuff done around the house than spend 2 hours watching frustrating basketball lol. I still try to watch games, but it’s not must see basketball like is used to be.

And I also can't see Oats or Pearl leaving their current situations.  The established coaches are longshots imo.  It doesn't mean you don't ask, but as fans we probably need to temper our expectations.  Otzelberger would have a better chance to win an NCAA Championship at IU than at Iowa State, but is it enough for him to leave a comfortable situation?  I think we are looking at a May, McCasland, or McCollum unless Dolson pulls a rabbit out of his hat.

The program you are invested in hired a coach with 0 college basketball coaching experience the last time.  Are there better options than Cronin? Yep.  All day everyday.   Would he be an upgrade for a program with 1 winning conference record in the last 9 years? Yep.  All day everyday.

Morning everyone. Just wanted to give an update. I know we all have heard a lot of bs recently so I want to make it clear that I am not guaranteeing anything. 
last night there was a shift. People in my circle and people I hear things from went from confusion to all thinking a deal is in place with an announcement in march. Sometime after the regular season, maybe before the big ten tournament but probably before the ncaa tourney. 
 
im starting to think that I jumped the gun on Friday and got a little excited and starting saying we were further along than we were, and that’s on me. If you think about it logically, why would IU announce the next head coach when ours is still coaching? Especially with how nasty woody is being behind the scenes. I do think the Goodman post was intentional to keep noise down because we have a ways to go, again i refer to nick saban saying he will never be the coach of Alabama 13 days before it was announced the coach of Alabama. Obviously if he hasn’t signed yet he could back out at anytime. 
 
if you think I am full of it I understand, I don’t claim to be an insider, I just share things I hear from people who are usually accurate on what they say, but this is where I stand. Go Hoosiers! 

Personally, I have some hope for Stevens until there are other reports of us reaching out to other candidates. If that starts, people will start reporting it.

The only situation I can think of with no leaks is the luka trade. That was an owner to owner trade and done within a hour of conversing. Time and two high profile fan bases like IU and Boston just lead to this. Stevens is also unfortunately a type of manager where u have to play the patient long game to try and court him ( breaking bad thing to me is weird though) , and that leads to accidental encounters with fans who know who they are.  Gonna be a small leak here and there. Again not saying the guy is right there but the timing march 2nd would be ideal for me.

Dusty May is the only guy, outside of Stevens, that I think checks all of the boxes. This year he checked the last one. He’s about to win the league in year 1 at Michigan. I personally think he turns us down. 

I wouldn’t worry about Cronin from a fishbowl point of view.  While UCLA isn’t the same fishbowl, you aren’t going to find someone from a more similar background

Weird as it sounds given the million page firing thread, but I’m not sure everyone has an appropriate appreciation for just how badly Woody and Archie have done. A guy like Cronin or someone at a comparable level with the resources here would never, ever, miss the tournament. In a bad year they’re top 1/2 of the conference. That is minimum expectation and there are so many guys who could get that done. I honest to God don’t know who they could reasonably consider who’s not an upgrade.

Message board rumors and conjecture don't have anything to do with the success of the program.

We get it, you don't like IU fans and believe the fans are the problem narrative.  This is a pretty common view for the burners and the current staff.

So, we're at the point where we accept a slightly better version of mediocrity?  I get it that Stevens said no.  I get it that May might say no.  But, look for the potential home runs from the other names on the list.  Cronin has already proven over the course of 21 years to NOT be a home run.
