Cronins buyout is pretty big though. $16m prior to March, 31st. $10m after that.

Not sure he warrants that but will be curious to watch how it all plays out.

On something like a seven year deal it’s an extra $1.5M/yr if you amortize it.  I know the buyout is paid shortly after hiring him just another way to look at it.  That hurts but it may be doable.

How does it work?  I heard we are using a search firm to do background checks.  I assume like regular employment we have to get permission from any candidate to do a background check.  Do we wait until we are down to our final 1 or 2 candidates to do background checks or do coaches give these firms prior permission to do a background check in case a potential job upgrade becomes available?

Oats is the guy I’d throw a record deal at and make him say no.

And when he says “No”….?   Who do we go to next?

Vandy is up 44-31 at half against Tennessee…on the road.  Hmmm…let’s see how the second half goes.  :)

Vols cut Vandy lead to 8 at 14:30 minute mark…50-42

Just got back from the 5 hour trip home from the game last night. What did I miss?

Todd Golden and Darian Devries are both interesting but with limited NCAA tournament experience, probably rolls of the dice though both have good track records

Every coach is a roll of the dice. Those two are far less of a roll of the dice than almost any. Golden’s only risk are his personal issues and potential for future personal issues similar to Beard, but without the alcohol issues.

Chaos on the board after Goodman’s tweet, as Brad Stevens said he was happy being at Boston. Before that, it seemed like Brad was going to sign a contract on Monday. And now everyone is guessing what other coaches could come here. Timeline of yesterday:

1. Sounds like an agreement was in the place yesterday morning and Stevens was (or is) going to sign a contract on Monday.

2. Goodman tweets out that Stevens told him he is not a candidate for IU and loves being in Boston. Although some are arguing that it wasn’t a hard “no” and it was soft-vague announcement.

3. Seems like no one knows what is going on right now, although it’s been reported by Rabby that the IU side believes that wasn’t an no and merely front office speak. Others are thinking this ship has sailed and it’s time to move on to candidates. Trilly thinks it’s over, but someone on said on here that is was his opinion and was pretty confused.

4. A lot of “I told you so” on here
