General Coach Candidate News

Yes.  I’m extremely confident Cig will say his piece and then leave Scott alone to make the call.

This.

I highly doubt Cig is knocking on Dolsons door. He is way too busy. He probably was asked and gave his opinion and that was the end of it.

I didn't go back and read, can someone please get me up to speed on the current status?

1. Sounds like an agreement was in the place yesterday morning and Stevens was (or is) going to sign a contract on Monday.

2. Goodman tweets out that Stevens told him he is not a candidate for IU and loves being in Boston. Although some are arguing that it wasn’t a hard “no” and it was soft-vague announcement.

3. Seems like no one knows what is going on right now, although it’s been reported by Rabby that the IU side believes that wasn’t an no and merely front office speak. Others are thinking this ship has sailed and it’s time to move on to candidates. Trilly thinks it’s over, but someone on said on here that is was his opinion and was pretty confused.

4. A lot of “I told you so” on here

You are special. Mick Cronin born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio

I know that but he now has coached in a different region of the country. Also I don't care where a coach comes from but I just care about their resume

Nate Oats would be my #1 option if landing him is realistic. I thought his buyout was insane though.

It is insane, and so is Cronin’s. Oats is 18 million and Cronin 16 million I believe.

Did it looked like he had been crying? Because if I was him and I just lost Brad “FING” Stevens my face would be puffy as hell from crying so hard.

He looked pretty happy talking to Ned Pfau at halftime. Kind of unusual as we were down 10 and they just found out that Brad isn’t interested in the job

I have seen this from a few posters. Why would these people be happy? It's a bad look imo.

Wonder if the Celtics offered minor ownership? From my understanding, the company that owns the Celtics only owns like 52% of the organization and is only selling their portions of it. Seems like a similar solution again from the last time around.

Could be and if so, shows you where his interest lie and is certainly not on the front line…so if that’s the case, I’m glad he’s not coming.

Byington is a good option if you have watched his teams play.  They spread it out and they get at it on D.  He is winning pretty well at a place that doesn’t win very often in the best conference this year.

I really hope this is a joke because if you think they should be sitting around and moping all night is strange to me. Also again we have no idea what has happened the last few days and if any of the things said on here is remotely close to what happened

So you are telling me that California is in the Midwest ok then

Actually no.  We all know that it is not.  But I wasn't talking about the location of the university at all actually

Yes they should be sitting around looking unhappy. We were getting our @$$ kicked yet again at home. If you are in anyway connected to this shot show you should be ashamed. I went to a game prior to woodson retirement announcement and the place was just depressing. I get most on here wont agree but that's my opinion. You can be a good sportsman and lose gracefully but nobody should be laughing and having a good time after yet another defeat imo.
Unless stevens is signing tomorrow! Lol

1) sometimes all you can do is laugh even if you have bad news. A supplier increases his price to me Friday morning and while I it pissed us off and I worked all day to replace them there were a lot of times where we just had to laugh.
2) Maybe they don’t believe Brad is a no

3) Maybe they felt they had to go after Brad and were worried he might string them along too long. If he is a No perhaps they we just as happy with choice 2.

I’ll let you guys in on a little secret. Cig is sick of the basketball around here. This isn’t rumor or speculation, this is fact. So, you don’t have to worry about him pushing for a certain coach.

The losing brand that IU is or the idea that basketball is king in Indiana?

Guys, all I can say is that I know some of the highest people…and I haven’t heard a peep. Im guessing it will stay this way until a story breaks when we actually have an agreement in place (with whoever the new coach will be). I just can’t imagine people connected enough to know contract numbers are throwing them around. I could be wrong. Just my opinion.

Kinda the “those who know don’t talk, and those who talk don’t know”?

Just curious, had you heard anything prior to the statement from Stevens??  Were you given any indication that “we had our guy”?
