Exactly. Look, I don’t know about some newer posters, but Chris007 and JerryYeagley don’t come off as trolls or liars. If they are they should go into the CIA and get paid as agents because they’re very convincing. The quote itself with its vagueness and the fact it’s only Goodman just seems odd. I’m not giving up hope until after Tuesday night. If there’s any truth to what we’ve heard, he’ll sign Monday, and this will leak by Tuesday.

They are not trolls they mean well and probably go with what they are told. It just doesn't always seem to work out.

Where did all these mental health advocates come from today?  Like out of nowhere they show up telling everyone how sorry they are that we've been lied to, not to be gullible, and shame on people who would take advantage of our weak unstable minds. I for one was definitely taking it in as finally, Brad it is. 

Or should I be flattered that strangers have my best interests at the forefront?

Anyway, back to Goodman. I didn't even know that the nation was all but certain about Brad too there for a few hours. So what was going on outside this boars that Sfevens needed to get out in front and make declaration?? I like Brad and all, but he think that much of himself he just up out of nowhere says, "I'm not a candidate"  like seems odd to do it, like ever.

Our boards have been buzzing about Stevens for the past week. The buzzing has gotten louder each day, and it was only a matter of time before someone in the media noticed. Goodman reached out to Stevens, got the expected canned response, and everyone lost their minds.

Right now, I do not believe because I do not want to be disappointed, but the quotes are basically the same - and if I recall correctly, Goodman has significant anti-IU bias and we only helped confirm his bias by not making a good hire last time.

And did you even read THAT post? I've never bought into Stevens. It was always slim at best, like I said. WE root for IU. All of us. There are different paths to success and different views on how we're going to get there. Don't overcomplicate this. However this hire turns out it's going to land us in a better position than the one we're currently dealing with. People are free to speculate however they wish until we have our answer.

My wishful thinking scenario is Stevens is actually punking Goodman knowing he'd be chomping at the bit to put that statement out to IU fans. He worded it vaguely and when he takes the job he can just say he wasn't a candidate at that particular time, then Indiana came calling afterward. Then we swarm Goodman relentlessly until he finds a different profession and fades away into obscurity.

But in reality a duck is usually a duck and its very possible Option 1 is no longer an option. Time will tell.

If you click on your username in the top right it will give you a drop down with an option for 'blocked users'. Go there and enter any handles you want to block.

The only quote attached to all this from Stevens leaves open a 6 lane highway of plausible deniability, @Chris007 has a long track record and didn’t carry on after BS said no in ‘21, Jerry and AP have been radio silent, @IsaacTor also said wait…I’m gonna have some guarded optimism and see what else we hear this weekend.

Maybe I pay to much attention to politics, but I still prefer to believe we're in the middle of a disinformation campaign from the ones conducting the search. Brad Stevens could still be in play or he may have never been in play.  Our insiders are only relaying what they've been told.

This thread would be pretty dull if we just sat around campaigning for our personal choices until the AD put out an official announcement.  For us the search for a new coach should be seen as entertainment - I'll let the ones conducting the search do the worrying.

IsaacTor is new to the board, but Chris, Jerry, and ap have provided good information before and enough times that people listen when they share. That doesn't mean they're always right or that their info is in anyway infallible. Whether you choose to believe them is up to you.

I get why people would get excited about the thought of landing Stevens, and let's face it it's not surprising his name would come in when Indiana needs a coach he's as big of a white  whale as it gets for us. I've repeatedly said in this thread it won't happen and that I'd believe it when I saw it.

I'm not a big tinfoil hat guy, the simple answer is many times the right one. However that statement Goodman put out from Stevens is a very very weak denial and unless he left parts out doesn't say not a candidate. IF if it happened, a whale sized if, then it wouldn't be the first time a coach said something like that and then left shortly after; remember Caliapri said Memphis is where he wanted to be then left to UK, Saban point blank said he won't be the coach at Alabama, etc.

The Caliapri and Saban references are perfect for this. It always happens in these coaching searches. Don’t take anyone at face value and what they say to media members, especially when they are currently employed.
