All I know is jim coyle says beard would crawl over broken glass for this job. Who knows if that's true but if we pass on him and end up with a brad bronwell type well I guess we get what we deserve.

I understand everyone’s concerns and takes. Quite frankly if Indiana wants to be a winner again Chris Beard and IUBB are a match made in heaven.

We have been elite so long, we don’t need a great coach. We are IU.

They could however they passed on him last cycle and that was before the other incident.  It was reported iu looked into his past and found too many skeletons in his closet.  This time around I don’t see any way they would change their view.   Louisville and Kentucky had openings last year and Beard didn’t get a sniff at either of them.  Schools that are known for overlooking stuff chose Pope and Kelsey over Beard.   Luckily for Beard the SEC has teams that don’t care about some stuff and are willing to take a chance.  Interesting to see in the coming years if any schools outside the sec will take a chance

We don't know that to be absolute though either. How do you know RMK didn't tell him about the pinnacle of cbb at IU when they were at TT together? Maybe he always thought IU was a better job than Texas and that was a stepping stone.

We just don't know, but one thing we do know is he wants the job and would do well here!

I'm not saying he isn't a risk, but I would be willing to risk it for the reward he could reap.

I guess it’s possible, but I have a hard time believing he leaves his alma mater who he already had rolling that also happens to be one of the richest schools in the country if it weren’t for the elephant in the room.

My last thought on this…

Let Fisch have a say in this decision.

He has seen, firsthand, pretty much every candidate in the pool. He has been around long enough to know what good coaching looks like.

Take his opinion and weigh it as heavily as anything else.
Nothing has worked in this process for the last 25 years. What would it hurt to listen to him?

I don't know that he would want to stick his neck out like that. Fisch seems like the most level headed, sincere person ever!

4 years ago when Brad made it clear he wasn’t coming @Chris007 came on here and took some lumps. Same last year and I remember tossing some angst his way but he was here. IF the Stevens thing does not happen it will come out in more detail and I know Chris will be here. For now I think we should consider other options and discuss but I see no reason to be convinced Stevens to IU is over based on what we have seen.

I don't think Chris has anything to take any lumps for this time. He's been consistent the entire time that it wasn't a done deal and anything could happen. I think it was others who were mote definitive, making their absence all the more notable now.

And he cares deeply about IU.

Can’t imagine how hard it must be for him to sit on his hands and not say anything

I feel that Beard is the guy that wants to be in the basketball fishbowl! I don't think he wants to be second fiddle to football. Jmo!

I think that's what makes him different from all the other coaches in my mind.
