It was reported iu looked into his past and found too many skeletons in his closet. This time around I don’t see any way they would change their view. Louisville and Kentucky had openings last year and Beard didn’t get a sniff at either of them. Schools that are known for overlooking stuff chose Pope and Kelsey over Beard. Luckily for Beard the SEC has teams that don’t care about some stuff and are willing to take a chance. Interesting to see in the coming years if any schools outside the sec will take a chance woodenshoemanHoosierfan, lillurk, Muskie plays the four and 3 others 5 1
lillurk Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 Beard is the 2006 Kelvin Sampson choice, in the sense that the issues are just as obvious as the coaching talent and it’s very easy to make the right choice not to hire him. cybergates 1

How do you know RMK didn't tell him about the pinnacle of cbb at IU when they were at TT together? Maybe he always thought IU was a better job than Texas and that was a stepping stone. We just don't know, but one thing we do know is he wants the job and would do well here! I'm not saying he isn't a risk, but I would be willing to risk it for the reward he could reap. I guess it’s possible, but I have a hard time believing he leaves his alma mater who he already had rolling that also happens to be one of the richest schools in the country if it weren’t for the elephant in the room. steubenhoosier Posted February 15, 2025 Posted February 15, 2025 My last thought on this… Let Fisch have a say in this decision. He has seen, firsthand, pretty much every candidate in the pool. He has been around long enough to know what good coaching looks like. Take his opinion and weigh it as heavily as anything else. Nothing has worked in this process for the last 25 years. What would it hurt to listen to him? Muskie plays the four 1

For now I think we should consider other options and discuss but I see no reason to be convinced Stevens to IU is over based on what we have seen. I don't think Chris has anything to take any lumps for this time. He's been consistent the entire time that it wasn't a done deal and anything could happen. Popular Post Papacap Posted February 15, 2025 Popular Post Posted February 15, 2025 Anyone who blames insiders on a message board for info needs to evaluate their lives. Having said that, if IU messes up this hire, I don’t know what to say. But IU and Dolson will not mess this up. So let’s freakin go. Time to step up and leave no doubt.
