I don’t see any reason why Stevens cannot come out and say he has interest in the Indiana job, since he isn’t, I am losing interest in him as a possibility. Why should Indiana beg him to be their coach, we need a coach that not only has a winning track record but that really wants to be here! I am quite frankly a little sick of Stevens and his playing hard to get routine when he knows he has no intention of coming here!

We shouldn't. The pitch should be easy and quick this time.

Brad - this is your last chance to come home and be the head coach at IU. Yes or no.

I have a feeling Scott knows his answer already if everything the insiders say is even remotely true.

He gets a raise every time IU needs a coach. Works out great for him.

Because there's no reason for him to do so. He hasn't been asked publicly about the job since last April, as far as I can tell. Until the waiver deadline of March 1st, he's still got a job to do in Boston.

Plus I don't think IU wants to announce anything yet...this is already enough of a clown show.

My guess is that if it's Brad, you hear something shortly after IU's season concludes.

If the first weekend of the NCAA tournament begins and we still don't have a coach, that likely means it's someone still actively coaching.

Either way, it's going to be a long wait.

If Stevens is the guy we will know very soon imo.  He’s not going to string the Celtics along.  He will inform them of his plans as soon as he knows and word will leak out.

Quinn Buckner hires himself to be IU coach. With Mike Woodson as assistant.

Gotta keep the grift going somehow.

May is a Hoosier. Cronin has the personality of a Kirkwood Squirrel.

Dusty May would be an idiot to take the IU job. He has too many close connections. His mother lives in Btown and his in-laws live in the area. One three-game losing streak and they will start to hear all the negatives. Nobody needs that. Plus, I think he's just too nice of a guy. That isn't a slam on the IU fan base, the same would be true at KY, KS, UNC, Duke, etc.  He can win but remain below the radar at MI, which is definitely football first.

IU needs someone who doesn't care about the outside noise and doesn't have to worry about their extended families dealing with it. That's why guys like Beard & Cronin make sense. I think Stevens could deal with the noise, but he isn't coming.

I get that Stevens is a long shot, but people are discounting the money piece. I understand rich guys that aren't motivated by money. I deal with them every day. 40 million across say 6 years probably does not move the needle for someone in Brads tax bracket. 100 Million does not just get you in the door, that gets you serious consideration. Throw in the personal and family connections, and the near 9 figures can push something like this over the top. Just my opinion.

TL;DR: The money also matters. Anyone thinking that BS won't take a very long and very serious look at that deal (I am assuming Yeags is accurate), is missing a serious factor.

My guess is that if Dolson has a nonbinding agreement with Brad, they've agreed he'd get through the waiver deadline in March before making anything official. I'd be surprised if anything leaked before then, beyond the message board rumors here. Could be wrong, though!

Why would the Celtics want him involved in any moves if he’s leaving?  It would be a terrible look if he was making moves for a billionaire dollar franchise when he has a foot out the door.  Would probably be a breach of his contract too.

For continuity purposes. It's not like he'd be leaving for a rival.

Because he would still wants what’s best for the team he built.

That's something that I've heard that the extended family  would just assume he stay at Michigan so they don't have to worry about being in  public.

I hoped you laughed in that players face. He’s not really close to Stevens if he thinks that’s true. If you don’t think we had serious talks with Stevens last time and again in the last two months then not much I can say to change your mind. But that player is flat out wrong.

Not having any inside information here...but somewhat able to intuit truth by verification versus falsehood by the lack thereof...

Chris has good standing imho.

Taking a step back...Kentuckysx has a good point about Stevens making decisions with one foot out the door.  Since one may assume that Stevens is a professional and his word is good...imho he would be talking fairly openly with management to let them know that he is thinking of stepping out.  They also would be talking turkey and laying out what might just be best for selling the franchise vs continuing without Stevens.  They are all grownups and deadly serious.

With that assumption...what Chris says is, to us, a rumor.  But I lean toward it.

On the other hand...I will believe it when I see it.

Hopefully soon.

Go Chris...go!

And may Brad Stevens come riding over the yonder hill on a stately and beautiful buffalo to save us all from these nightmares.
