Half the fan base won’t be against but the love May gets on this board doesn’t exist with the average fan. He wouldn’t win the presser at this point. That might change if he makes a deep run in the tournament.

The opinion of the average fan is highly overrated. The average fan barely knows Scott Drew’s name and that guy has a Natty and did one of the greatest reclamation jobs in history. They’ll be down with the hire when he wins.

Chris Beard and Tom Crean do not fit the criteria.

What is your criteria?

Active college BB coaches?

You didn't specify.

If you want people under 50 who've led teams to a Final Four -- there are probably quite a few.

Pretty certain he meant currently under 50, not under 50 at the time.

Here's a question:

How many people are there below the age of 50 who served as head coach of an NCAA men's basketball team that appeared in a Final Four?

Never mind, the answer is three.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Can you name them?

Bonus question:

And this is just a question.  Not directed at anyone, but an honest question.

How much of a role do you suppose financial or material inducements (NIL, cars, houses, a tractor) played in building those final four rosters?

That's a pretty cool stat. Two of the three are from Indiana. One of them is an IU grad, and the other is the son of a former IU football player.

Who is the third?

There are three people under 50 who have coached men's Final Four teams.

There are quite a few people who have coached Final Four teams (when they were) under the age of 50.

Translation:  It is difficult to coach a team to a Final Four and often takes years to accomplish (and at higher profile schools than Butler, VCU, or FAU).

It's 5 million according to espn

There are 2 buyouts:

1) The school fires him. That is 70% of the remaining contract which puts this buyout at about $11M currently. This money goes to the coach.

2) May decides to leave, i.e. he gets another job somewhere else like, say, IU. This is at $5M and will soon drop to $4M. This money goes to the school.

So you're original post that I replied to which stated they kept it at $5M to make it cheap to fire him is incorrect.

I’ve been busy winning games today. Has anyone shared anything good that I’ve missed?

When Dusty was asked about the IU job in the postgame conference he did not demonstrably deny interest and therefore he tacitly indicated he would take the job.
