It should say "dumpster fire that IS the Indiana Hoosiers."

That kind of mistake is a pretty good indicator it was edited by a Purdue fan.

Yes because they know if IU gets him they’re in trouble!!

It also was an edit to a previous version that said he wants to coach IU.

Let’s say Stevens stays in the NBA and we’re getting a current college coach. Do we want him to flame out early so we can go ahead and get him or make a decent run to continue to build his credibility?

Just quoting you from another post but not everything was as tight-lipped as you thought. This was put in motion weeks ago.

Of course, I'm a nobody out there regarding information.  I guess my point was there seemed to be fewer wild rumors this go around than the last couple.   Always appreciate the info you do bring though!

@Chris007 I'm curious, what was the final straw for Dolson? Would Archie have been back if we hadn't finished on a six game losing streak? Or was he gone regardless if we missed the tournament this year?

I just posted everything I know on the other thread. But I think he was done in after the 4 game losing streak, then 5 and 6 were the cherry on top

And won as a head guy. Fife did OK at IPFW and people try to twist themselves into a pretzel finding reasons to justify why he’s ready for this job. This job would eat him alive, just like it did Archie Miller (who I think is much better than Fife).

This hire is too important for Fife at this time.......if Belein is the hire bring him in as your top assistant for the potential handoff in the 6-8 years.

I'd put Few at +a billion (I'd then put $5 on it)

Would be awesome but he isn't leaving Zaga.

If Indiana is going to fire Archie, this is a huge step forward IMO. I don't think Fred Glass would've fired Archie with a 10 mil buyout. He would've waited another year. We saw that with Crean in 2015. That being said, I have to think (and this has been said on here) they are getting a proven winner. Not a Dane Fife, not a Gates. It has to be a proven P5 winner. You don't fire Archie Miller to replace him with a coach who has a similar resume as him. You just don't, not with a 10 mil buyout.

If I had to put money on someone (and frankly I've went from Alford to Fife so who the hell knows) I'd say Eric Musselman is the guy. I don't know if Stevens leaves one year after his extension. They would really have to wow him. I think Beard is a Texas guy and don't see him coming to Indiana. The next guy that comes to mind would be Musselman. I would HOPE Indiana University could lure a coach from a football school.

personally I think any hypothetical decision by Brad would have less to do with extensions, or contracts in general, than it would with the question of whether his preference for NBA over college coaching has changed over time or not.

FWIW there have definitely been expressions of dissatisfaction about Brad's coaching in the Boston media--as well as suggestions that some of the Celtic players regard him as "a college coach" and have basically tuned him out.

Not a fan of this type of argument. Stevens only played at Depauw. Fife played at IU. Who’s the better coach?

To be fair, Stevens has been a head coach longer.

The answer may be obvious but perhaps Fife is a really good head coach. He did fine as a 26 year old.

no inside info, but i say no way we hire Beilein.  I can certainly see Drew.  We aren't going to hire a 68 year old guy when it could take 3 years to get things going.  Nope.
