Plus his salary is already around 4m, so we'd probably have to pay around 5-6m annually plus the buyout.

The last 25 years says yes that would be an IU thing to do.

I think the way his Clemson teams have played the last few seasons are why he's a candidate. That fact that he's from Indiana and has recruiting connections to the state is just a bonus.

That being said, hiring Brad Brownell when Will Wade is readily available isn't wise by any measure.

I'll add this: if there's no handshake deal with a coach by now, it's malpractice. Scott has had 5 weeks officially for this search (really a year) and portal backchanneling has been happening for months already. Whoever the next coach is will need to have been aware of the job they're stepping into and started evaluating the roster and potential additions.

Because they knew he needed any advantage he could get since we got handcuffed to him another season. Obviously that didn't work out. No one is putting up fat cash for Brownell.

I'd like to think gauging the fan base's interest would be pretty simple by embedding individuals into social media/message boards. If that were the case then I'd also like to think Dolson won't spend $18M + the salary to hire a candidate that essentially nobody wants. I say all of that and then I am reminded that he hired MW. I am going to miss the engagement in here but I'm so freaking ready for this to be over.

For less than 10k, you can probably change the entire sentiment of the board with strategically created users and posts. Internet forums are pretty easy to manipulate, not that any company I have ever been a part of has done that.
