I doubt search firm staff are flying charter. If they or coaches insist on meeting in person, and the coach travels to them, that might make sense. But firm staff are not going to stand out unless they’re walking into a coach’s office. If they’re at a conference tournament they can arrange meetings in hotels and move freely.

Now, if they’re meeting with coaches who already won the tourney, it’s probably virtual, or at least not in the coach’s office. Similar logic for coaches not currently coaching.

Y’all thought I was unhinged with McCollum yesterday. (I was, he would be a gigantic risk, WHY? Get him in 6 years after his next stop)

But Brad ******** Brownell?  Oh hell no!  Homie don’t play that. Period.

Just lol at the thought of hiring Brad freaking Brownell. I don’t agree with it, but there’s at least an argument for McCollum. Hes young, he’s done extremely well in D2 and is 30-3 his first year at Drake. It’s unknown how he’d do at IU, but he’s won big at the levels he’s coached at.
Brownell would just be the ultimate “this program is dead and I suck at my job” hire by Dolson. He’s been incredibly mediocre for 15 years in the ACC. There’s just nothing there to rationalize it.
It would be on the level of a woodson hire and yes basically be saying the program is dead. I think people would really start to question dolson the genius.

I think there's an argument for Brownell. He's had high success the past two seasons in the NIL/transfer portal era while some coaches have quit (Wright, Bennett) or struggled a bit (Self, Drew.) He's from Indiana and has some recruiting connections and relationships already because of that. He could be a unique fit of right guy, right place, right time. A little Mark Pope. I'm not saying his argument to be the Indiana coach is the best one, but you can squint and see it being successful.

Exactly.  The worst possible hire is the one where we know exactly what we're getting and what we're getting simply isn't good enough. The fans would be calling for the firing before the opening press conference.  At least with an up and comer there would be hope.  Maybe it's our turn to finally hit big.  Lord knows we are due.

I think while a lot of us have differing favs, I think we can all agree (maybe not Kathy) but the program really needs an inspiring hire at this time in its history. While McCollum has question marks, he has some history that can inspire fans if communicated correctly and not just "he comes from a D2 background".....Stevens would be inspiring as well for obvious reason....the risk is LOSING THE FANS....IU basketball can easily become the old IU football where half the stadium is filled.....

Just an opinion from an old italian "businessman"

If Brownell wasn’t from Indiana, he wouldn’t even be mentioned. And that’s the part that frustrates me the most. I don’t think he gets it, but I mean just being mentioned is enough to make me cringe.

While I do think there’s some truth to this, I do think he’d still be mentioned but not as strongly. His recent success doesn’t go unnoticed, i mean we mentioned Vandys coach ffs lol
