He was praising “Trayce” Galloway the other day. I will not miss his aloofness. You just can’t lack basic attention to detail as a head coach. I know for a fact it cost us more than one top-level recruit.

Also I won’t miss him speaking in the third person. What the hell was that anyway?? How did he never take any heat for that? lmao

I noticed this the first summer he was here and he got Flory Bidunga's name wrong. I was told it was no big deal and coaches made mistakes like that all the time.

The hire is someone from left field.

This left fielder’s name?

Why.

Well,  I just thought I’d ask you.

well, I  just thought I’d tell you.

Then tell me who’s playing left field!

I already told you, Who’s on First.

I’m not asking you who’s on first, I want  to know what’s the left fielder’s name?!

What’s on Second.

 I don’t know!

He’s on Third!

I’m not asking you who’s on Third

Who’s on—-

I’ll break your arm if you say who’s on first!

this is how I feel after reading this thread. I’ll be so glad when this is over, because I’m getting to the point my opinion about this coaching search is the same as the shortstop’s name!

I know it's hard for folks to grasp because we've been so used to the disappointment of the football program but IUFB finally has a coach that knows what he's doing.

What a horrible take. Lol.

Some folks just want something to complain about.

Apparently winning 11 games has now raised the expectations to such a level that every subsequent season will now be seen as a disappointment to these fans.

Yeah, I don't deny that.  But way too many coaches get full of themselves and are too stubborn to change and adapt.  They will force their "system."  See our current guy for Exhibit A.  :)  He's going to be able to attract much better talent at a school like IU.  You don't want to handcuff them in a D2 style system.

What I would say is that was likely asked in interview -- about adapting to a P5 level.  One thing I do know is that Dolson was asked what he was looking for in a new coach and a major thing was that they needed to embrace the portal, not run away from it.  So either that would mean McCollum is wary of the portal and isn't the choice or he has indicated that he plans on using it extensively.

Guys - my sources are telling me that it’s McDermott. Not a joke. Not a troll. You heard it here first. I joked about his son earlier. This is not a drill

This is about the 12th coach I'd be cool with over the last few weeks. Actually he is 2nd on my list of realistic candidates that haven't said no.

Oddly enough I have. I'm actually surrounded by them. To be clear they're all wouldn't-s (has anyone done research on how to pluarlize that) but they can bake well enough to make me not care.

Me too.We buy eggs, baked goods and poultry from them.

Watching those girls pluck chickens is a major turn on.

I wouldn't pigeonhole his "system" into a label of a D2 style system. His approach seems to be more about his players' strengths and adapt to them. He's definitely a process driven coach, like Nick Saban for sure.  It looks like his biggest constant is the point guard play. It all starts and stops with the PG. I think I read on here somewhere or maybe watched an interview or something where he wants a player that can quickly process things mentally. His offense makes me think of the "motion" offense back in the day.  It's very fluid and not really about X's and O's but more about mentally processing what is available on the court that the defense is giving you. A lot of cuts to the basket, screens that help setting up open shots through mismatches, screens to get two defenders on the ball, ghost screens,  etc.. I watched it in the flesh, and it's really fun to watch. Personally, I enjoyed his team's defense more than I did the offense. Bottom line, they played smart.  I haven't seen an IUBB team play smart in a very long time.  I do question whether or not his type of philosophy/offense will work against length. We'll be able to watch this in the tournament for sure.

If McCollum is the guy, I'll be extremely comfortable with the hire.

The list of what has gone wrong in his engagement with recruits and lack of ability to forge relationships with not only the recruits but also AAU leaders and HS coaches would shock you! No joking and not something to take lightly. Folks love Painter for finding players who fit his system. But he also has relationships with those power players in hoops around the state. It’s strong. Indiana is seen as a joke and woody is Bigfoot. A new coach has work to do and it’s because of woodys lack of effort to build them.

Idk if this is a troll but this will ensure another Olympic themed coach hiring in 4 years.  He’s 62 already.  I suppose Dolson wants to try to win now but man. I know people love this but…….
