Several days ago, I brought to the board that IU and MN (likely) would be replacing the only two African American coaches in the B1G and that some donors were pressuring Dolson to seriously consider Gates and others. Everyone laughed.
Well, here we are.

Now, it will ramp up the “keep Woodson” chatter as well. Don’t see it actually happening, but the noise will be louder.

Gates is not realistic....the guy won ZERO games in conference last year......DEI or not, we cannot be that stupid

I no longer live in Indiana but there are a pretty good number of IU fans in Georgia. Literally not one has mentioned the possibility of keeping Woodson. Where is this chatter?

Please don't fall for this. Zero percent chance this happens. Zero

I think Niko Medved is the guy to watch in MN. Alum, long-rumored, and even if they want McCollum I think he’ll prefer other options.

Medved would be as good a hire as Minnesota could possibly make.

You guys realize how badly Minnesota will want McCollum. Iowa Minnesota Virginia battle

Honestly, those are the type of schools I would expect McCollum to go to. I think we land someone bigger…but who knows? Nobody.

Ben Johnson had limited NIL. I actually didn’t think he did all that bad with the resources given to him.

Gates was on some early hot board lists to IU.

Put together a list of “successful” African American coaches. He’s on it along with Ed Cooley, Anthony Grant, Tommy Amaker.  Lamont Paris would have been on the list last season as SEC COY. He would have gotten a very strong look with his Midwest and B1G history. Not saying IU will hire anyone on this list, but there is some pressure to hire an African American coach. May not be enough to ultimately win out.

I guess that depends on your definition of success when it comes to Gates....Amaker has some success definitely but not seasons where he won ZERO games in conference....come on....thats ****....he aint a candidate....
