Worth noting in the article where McCasland tells that story, he said he tried to find a retort for McCollum’s offense and couldn’t. He then credits for McCollum for helping change trajectory of his North Texas team. Big jump in their offensive numbers after adopting some of Ben’s stuff. For all the talk of needing a personality that can handle this place, I take stories like these as positive indicators that hes got the chops for that. Doesn’t give me pause for a moment personally.

I read the same... can't argue with that.

Will say this: When his name 1st popped up I reached out to a friend who’s a D1 Asst Coach in my neck of the woods who’s actually vaguely acquainted with him, Missouri  basketball is a very small world, and while he thinks he’s really good he also thinks he’s intense to the point of being a little bit nuts(his word, not mine). So I’d always been a little cool on the idea. But I’ve seen no public evidence that he’s anything but just a conventionally driven guy. He’s certainly no Dan Hurley. That still feels like a big step up, but his coaching talent is unassailable.

Side note: for people who like to complain about Woody’s “arrogance”, McCollum literally told Grant McCasland, a really successful coach, that his offense sucked and was too easy to guard. That sounds kind of arrogant. People down with that?

I think the arrogance between the two are a bit different.  When you can point out something and back it up, it's not really arrogance.  Woody's arrogance seems to push away his staff and the fans and not able to back anything up on the floor.

I am okay with some arrogance (see coach cig), but don't talk down the fans supporting your program.

I'm hearing all kinds of stuff but I was told yesterday morning rumors would be crazy this week. We'll see what happens.

Well sounds like you got someone who knows their stuff, what else have they said.

Where I’m at…… If McCollum really wants this job and believes he can win championships here, then he’s a no brainer. If there is any doubt in his mind at all, then we shouldn’t.

A prerequisite of succeeding at Indiana is supreme confidence that you can win at Indiana.

Think back to Kelvin Sampson’s introductory press conference

This is Indiana. If he wins championships not only will people be ok with it, they’ll be emulating it with their kids grade school teams on the weekends.  There will be a whole epidemic of youth coaches wearing white shirts, mono-colored ties, and yelling at the other sideline that their action sucks.

....no offense to BehindTheBench, but he wasn't one of the the main 3 sources I was speaking about.

The guys I was referring to was, RTZ, Chris, ap2345. Some of them said some of the other things, but none of them said "done deal".
