Anybody think the next coach is one of these names?

Cheers folks! I just put up my sun shade over the back deck, set my patio chairs out and Windex’d the table and finally drinking an ice cold Space Dust! I’m enjoying this 65 degree evening with my beautiful wife out on the deck. Make sure all of you take time to spend with your significant other!

I'm good with McCollum, Huss or McMillan.

McMillan has a ton of potential.  Seems like recruits would love him.  But I've seen people question if his system would translate to the high level.

Could easily be the next Nate Oats.

On McCollum: All he has ever done is win. Regardless of level, he wins. How you gonna hate on that? It's IU - sells itself, even Archie got high level recruits here. .909% Win percentage (D1 only). 2013-2024 in D2 he lost a total of 24 games, now only has 3 losses in D1. 

For a fanbase who has experienced the Cig effect, you'd think the concept of hiring is much easier now: Get a guy who wins

In reality, it's likely gonna be one of these guys though. The only power 5 coach still getting mentioned is Brad Brownell.

I am hearing a lot of McCollum buzz. Started last night and continued on through out the day.

Assuming that IU could find a way to make it happen with any of these?

I am fan of Dolson doing a deep dive into the six of them, finding the one that would instill the best culture at IU and that doesn’t have a dud personality, and let it roll. Much prefer this option to a 55+ year old.

Something about a head coach establishing their identity and prominence at Indiana that I find incredibly appealing.

Niko Medved would be a Turgeon or Brownell level hire in my opinion. Only 2 NCAA appearances in 11 years of coaching, never advancing beyond the first round. Has never won a conference title in 7 years at Colorado State. Went 15-18 just a couple years ago.

If Medved is the best you can do, then it may be time to seriously consider shifting resources to the FB and WBB teams.

I don't think we go for Medved, or at least I hope not.

I think Odom stays in the DMV area or NC State. 

I could see Calhoun... wouldn't be thrilled but I guess I could live with it. Haven't watched enough to have a strong opinion. Resume doesn't really wow me all that much. Maybe he wants to come back to the midwest. 

I'd be pretty dang excited about McCollum, McMillan or Huss. I am ready for IUBB to take on the identity of a real winner.

Would be absolutely shocked if he’s actually under consideration (I’d bet he isn’t). 
Dolson knows how important this hire is, and QB this time can’t drive the train. I think whoever it ends up being will have a strong winning culture behind him.

Watched High Point yesterday for the 1st time and Huss was pretty damned impressive. Winthrop came out making everything and got up big. Huss was clearly down on their defensive effort and pulled his starters. I know they play their bench a ton, but pulled them all. Managed to keep them cool and focused despite the stakes and kept them executing and won it going away. Would have been easy for that thing to get sideways.

His time at ISU is almost Archie bad. I say almost because ISU is a harder place to win than IU. But if he comes here and puts up results closer to his first big stint than his second it will definitely be a fail.  
 

The thing about McDermont is you have to believe that ultimately there was something fundamentally that was wrong with his approach at Iowa State that he identified, course corrected, and can avoid repeating at another power five job that isn’t Creighton. And I say that as someone who is fairly bullish on McDermont. I personally like watching his teams, aesthetically speaking.  
 

 

True. McDermott had the experience where he clearly course corrected and now is doing very well.
